Library Coordinator information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a library coordinator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Library Coordinator, you need strong organizational skills, knowledge of library science principles, and typically a bachelor's or master's degree in library science or a related field. Familiarity with integrated library systems (ILS), cataloging software, and digital resource management tools is often required. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills set outstanding candidates apart in coordinating staff and engaging patrons. These abilities ensure efficient library operations, high-quality service, and a well-managed information environment.

What is the role of a library coordinator?

A library coordinator manages library operations, oversees staff, develops programs, and ensures the library's services meet community needs. They often handle budgeting, collection development, and coordinate with other institutions, requiring strong organizational and communication skills. The role may also involve supervising volunteers and maintaining library technology systems.

What are the main responsibilities of a library coordinator?

A Library Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a library, including managing staff, organizing resources, and implementing library programs. They ensure that library materials are properly cataloged and accessible to patrons. Additionally, Library Coordinators may develop community outreach initiatives, manage budgets, and maintain library policies. Their role is essential in promoting literacy, supporting educational goals, and creating a welcoming environment for all library users.

What are some common challenges a library coordinator faces when managing multiple library programs simultaneously?

Library Coordinators often juggle several programs at once, such as literacy workshops, community events, and educational outreach. Balancing these responsibilities requires strong organizational skills and adaptability, as priorities can shift quickly with patron needs and staff availability. Additionally, coordinating with diverse stakeholders—like teachers, volunteers, and local organizations—can present scheduling and communication challenges. Proactive planning and regular team check-ins help ensure smooth program execution and positive outcomes for the community.

Job description

Safety Coordinator - EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) Corporate - Hybrid - Lenexa, KS (Kansas City)
If you are looking for a company that recognizes and rewards your abilities, provides opportunities to advance your career, and fosters an environment to learn and develop, Experitec is for you! This role is an ideal opportunity for a highly organized professional to support our growing safety function - keeping training, compliance, and documentation running smoothly. As a 100% employee-owned company, Experitec offers the chance to grow your career while directly supporting the safety of our employees.
As Experitec builds out a dedicated EHS function, the Safety Coordinator will own the administrative and tracking support (utilizing compliance platforms, training and certification records, drug testing coordination, and reporting) while working closely with the Field Safety Manager, who owns execution and outcomes in the field.
At Experitec, you won't just be maintaining infrastructure - you'll be an Employee Owner helping power a 100-year-old company's next chapter. Our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) means you have a direct financial stake in the programs you advance. When Experitec wins, you win.
As an employer of choice, Experitec recognizes and rewards your expertise, provides opportunities to grow your skills, and gives you the autonomy to make a real impact on the safety of our most important asset - our employee owners. Join a collaborative team where your contributions will be valued. Support safety initiatives and help coordinate the safety systems that keep Experitec running at its best.
What truly sets us apart is our culture. Leadership knows employees by name, development is treated as a rock wall - always climbing, always adding new skills - and the work-life balance is real, not just a talking point. If you're driven, collaborative, and want your contributions to matter, Experitec is where you belong.
Opportunities to Make An Impact
  • Be the organizational support engine behind a growing safety function.
  • Own the systems and records that keep Experitec audit-ready and qualified to work for our customers.
  • Partner closely with a Field Safety Manager who owns field execution, so you can stay focused on what you do best - systems, tracking, and follow-through.
  • Help shape how a new EHS function is built and run as Experitec continues to grow.
  • Join a culture built on customer focus, collaboration, innovation, integrity, and passion.

What does the Safety Coordinator Do?
In this position you will be:
  • Administering third-party contractor compliance platforms (e.g., ISNetworld, Avetta, Veriforce) to keep Experitec's qualifications and documentation current.
  • Maintaining OSHA recordkeeping (300/300A/301) and tracking safety metrics such as TRIR and EMR used in customer prequalification.
  • Coordinating and tracking all safety training company-wide - assigning training, monitoring completion, and following up before requirements lapse.
  • Coordinating drug testing and background screening, including administering testing platforms and managing customer-required programs.
  • Maintaining safety policies, the SDS library, and emergency preparedness documentation so information is current and accessible.
  • Monitoring Experitec's fleet management system - location, speed, and camera-based event data - on a set cadence, tracking trends and preparing regular reports for leadership.
  • Administering the Safety Committee and supporting office/site walkthrough tracking, in partnership with the Safety Committee and employee owners.
  • Maintaining incident and accident logs and tracking corrective actions through to closure.
  • Compiling and communicating safety metrics and compliance updates to leadership on a regular cadence.

What You Will Contribute
  • Strong organization and follow-through across many concurrent deadlines and systems.
  • A reliable system of record for training, certifications, and compliance documentation across the organization.
  • Accurate, audit-ready recordkeeping that keeps Experitec qualified to work for our customers.
  • Day-to-day monitoring of fleet safety data, flagging patterns and escalating serious or repeat events to the Field Safety Manager.
  • Dependable support that lets field teams focus on their work instead of paperwork.
  • Clear, regular reporting that keeps leadership informed on safety metrics and program status.
  • A collaborative partnership with the Field Safety Manager to keep systems and field execution aligned.

This position is part of our Talent Management team with the specific title of Safety Coordinator.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally (written and verbal) with employees, vendors, customers, and leadership; comfortable drafting correspondence, reports, and training communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple systems, deadlines, and recurring processes with a high degree of accuracy and follow-through.

  • Experience with a drug testing/background screening platform (such as DISA and/or Checkr).
  • Experience administering an LMS or similar training-tracking system.
  • Experience supporting multi-site and/or multi-state workforces.
  • Experience in industrial, manufacturing, engineering, or oil & gas field environments.
