The City of Sterling Heights is seeking an organized and detail-oriented individual to join the Sterling Heights Public Library as a Part Time Library Clerk!

  • Hourly pay starting at $26.0256/hr.
  • Pay increases every twelve (12) months and annually on July 1st
  • Paid Time Off (PTO)

Position Summary

Under direction of the Library Circulation Supervisor, the Part Time Library Clerk performs routine administrative and customerservice oriented duties pertaining to thecirculation desk. Daily responsibilities includewaiting on and attending to library patronsand their needs, checking library materials out,updating and maintaining patron records withthe library database and collecting library finesand fees. Strong communication andorganizational skills are key to success for aPart Time Library Clerk, as excellent service topatrons directly supports the Public Library'smission and goals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum one year office experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to interact courteously with
    the public.
  • Physical strength and dexterity tohandle materials and up to 25pounds in weight and to transportloaded book carts.
  • Knowledge of English, spelling, andarithmetic.
  • Ability to work independently andassume responsibility.
  • Accuracy and skill in typing,familiarity with computers.
  • Previous library experience desired.
  • Knowledge of Polaris AutomationSystem is desired.
