Job Title: Research Associate / Molecular Biology Scientist
Team: Genetic Characterization
Location: Spring House, PA - Onsite

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Molecular Biologist to support genetic characterization of cell lines expressing therapeutic proteins in a fully onsite, industry lab environment. This role requires strong hands-on expertise in molecular biology techniques, cell culture, and characterization workflows, along with the ability to follow structured processes and maintain high-quality documentation in a regulated setting.

The ideal candidate will have industry (non-academic) lab experience, exposure to GMP practices, and the ability to work across end-to-end experimental workflows, including automation and data interpretation.

Key Responsibilities

Genetic Characterization & Molecular Biology

  • Perform nucleic acid extraction (DNA/RNA) and characterization assays
  • Execute molecular biology techniques including:
    • PCR, RT-PCR, ddPCR
    • NGS library preparation
    • Molecular cloning
    • Northern and Southern blotting
  • Support genetic and epigenetic characterization of cell lines

Cell Culture & Lab Operations

  • Maintain and handle mammalian cell cultures using aseptic techniques
  • Support end-to-end experimental workflows and capital equipment usage
  • Assist in automation setup and execution for lab processes

Data Analysis & Documentation

  • Analyze experimental data and interpret results accurately
  • Maintain detailed and compliant records (lab notebooks, GMP documentation)
  • Ensure adherence to GMP standards and lab protocols

Collaboration

  • Work closely with cross-functional scientific teams
  • Participate in project discussions and contribute to problem-solving
  • Communicate results clearly and effectively

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Cell Biology, or related field
      (PhD level candidates may also be considered)
  • Industry (non-academic) lab experience required
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Mammalian cell culture
    • Nucleic acid extraction (DNA/RNA)
    • PCR, RT-PCR, ddPCR
    • NGS library preparation
  • Experience with:
    • Cell line characterization workflows
    • Laboratory equipment and process execution

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with:
    • Northern and Southern blotting
    • Automation setup in lab environments
  • Knowledge of:
    • GMP documentation and regulated environments
  • Basic programming or data handling skills in Python
