Heylen Warehouses is a Belgian family company founded in 2001, specializing in the development, leasing and management of highโ€‘quality logistics and lightโ€‘industrial property. With a focus on longโ€‘term value creation and sustainability, the company offers flexible and futureโ€‘proof solutions for logistic housing challenges across Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Spain, and Denmark. It currently manages 1.8โ€ฏmillion square meters of warehouses.

Legal Counsel

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic legal counsel to join our headquarters in Herentals.

Kernverantwoordelijkheden
  • Oversee all legal aspects of new and existing property projects in the various countries where Heylen Warehouses operates, from acquisitions and construction agreements to development, lease, management, service contracts, and project transfer and sale.
  • Provide legal support for renewable energy projects.
  • Protect the companyโ€™s interests, identify legal risks and ensure all projects are executed correctly.
  • Act as the internal and external point of contact for legal matters related to development and investment in logistics and semiโ€‘industrial property and renewable energy supply.
  • Manage the legal aspects of Heylen Warehousesโ€™ assets in line with the companyโ€™s vision and strategy.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues from technical, commercial, financial and other departments.
  • Daily tasks include drafting and reviewing legal documents and contracts (NDAs, LOIs, proposals, commercial and transaction documents, financing documents, collaboration agreements, etc.), participating in negotiations, leading external counsel and notaries, coordinating dueโ€‘diligence processes and transactions, and monitoring claims and litigation.
  • Contribute to the development of internal knowledge, maintain templates and stay updated on relevant new legislation.
Profiel
  • Masterโ€™s degree in law with at least 5โ€‘6 years of experience as an attorney and/or corporate or notarial lawyer, solid allโ€‘round legal knowledge, preferably with a background in property development.
  • Driven, capable of accurate legal analysis and independent project guidance, meticulous and organized.
  • Integrity, discretion as a confidant.
  • Curious, open to new ideas and variety.
  • Views obstacles as challenges, flexible and solutionโ€‘oriented.
  • Strong communicator, businessโ€‘mindful, able to defend the companyโ€™s interests in commercial negotiations.
  • Fluency in Dutch and good proficiency in English and French, other languages a plus.
  • Willingness to learn foreign legal systems alongside Belgian law.
  • Experience or knowledge of legalโ€‘tech tools a plus.
