Senior Specialist Legal Editor, Practical Law Antitrust

Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced antitrust lawyer to join the Practical Law Antitrust team in the US.

Practical Law is a leading online know-how service providing expert-created, practical maintained content to help legal professionals work smarter and advise with confidence. Practical Law editors are experienced legal professionals who sit at the intersection of law, technology and the development of AI-driven legal solutions, such as CoCounsel.

About The Role

As a Senior Specialist Legal Editor in Practical Law, you will use your specialist legal knowledge of, and experience in, antitrust law and practice to create and maintain a wide range of content and to support the development of Thomson Reuters AI-powered legal solutions. The role requires experience with pre-merger notification requirements under the Hart-Scott-Rodino ("HSR") Act and antitrust risk-shifting provisions in M&A transactions. Working in a supportive team of highly experienced colleagues, you will deal with a breadth of interesting work.

Major responsibilities/accountabilities

  • Research, write and maintain clear, current, and practical legal content aligned with market practice and customer needs, and business objectives.
  • Review and edit content written by others, whether by colleagues or external expert contributors.
  • Keep up to date with legal, practice and market developments to ensure content remains accurate, relevant and aligned with business objectives.
  • Use your legal expertise to support the development of customer-focused Thomson Reuters' AI-powered legal solutions.
  • Use your legal expertise and editorial skills to help develop and apply internal AI editorial tools.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with lawyers and industry groups to ensure content reflects current market practice.
  • Use your specialist legal knowledge to assist the wider Thomson Reuters team, working with product management, sales, marketing, and technology functions where necessary.

About You

You're a fit for the role if you are a a Juris Doctor with a current license to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction and have:

  • At least 8 years' experience of working as an antitrust lawyer in a law firm or in-house in the US.
  • Extensive experience advising on Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) Act filings, HSR exemptions, and premerger notification practice.
  • Experience advising on gun-jumping issues, clean team arrangements, and antitrust risk-shifting provisions in M&A transactions.
  • Familiarity with the Practical Law What's Market database or similar deal intelligence resources.
  • Strong writing skills, and a passion for writing about legal practice accurately, concisely and in plain English.
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively independently and in teams.
  • Strong technical skills and the ability to effectively utilize various tools, including AI technologies, to enhance productivity and accuracy.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to work on diverse projects and tasks within the AI space as well as new and emerging technologies.
  • A curious mindset, including about the increasing intersection of AI and legal practice, adaptable and open to change.
  • A strong interest in and experience of using AI tools in legal work.
