Starting Pay Rate: $20/hour
45 Week Position: (August - June)
Full Time: 40 hours per week
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Early Learning Center Lead Teacher is responsible for all aspects of planning, assessing, and instructing 3-year-olds; based on the needs of each child and the State of Michigan licensing requirements.The lead teacher is also responsible for maintaining program quality and documentation as outlined in the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS), and LARA guidelines.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
An Associate's Degree (AA) in Early Childhood Education or Child Development or the equivalent; OR a valid classroom CDA credential.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:








  • Training and experience with research-based preschool curricula with knowledge of the HighScope Curriculum and Early Childhood Standards of Quality for Pre-K (ECSQ-PK)
  • Teaching experience with Early Childhood/Preschool Aged Children.
  • Certified in CPR and First Aid
  • Knowledge of current research regarding literacy in Early Childhood
  • Knowledge of the  Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) tool and its relationship to quality experiences with young children
  • Skills in providing effective learning experiences that foster academic growth in a developmentally appropriate manner
  • Is able to work effectively, make decisions, and problem solve collaboratively within a team
  • Is able to work well with diverse families and engage parents as full partners in the child's learning
  • Is able to act as a resource person for families
  • Has strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, parents, families, and co-workers 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement developmentally appropriate instruction for children using the HighScope curriculum
  • Follow the daily routine as outlined in the curriculum
  • Conduct screening and ongoing assessment of children and provide age appropriate instructional support
  • Attend staff meetings, workshops, professional learning, and other scheduled program activities as requested
  • Lead the planning, team meetings, troubleshooting, and decision making
  • Lead with behavior and support the educational process in the classroom
  • Lead parent teacher conferences and home visits to partner with the parents to meet the educational needs of their child
  • Participate in District recruitment efforts, including open houses and round-ups, and assist in student selection
  • Maintain an up to date and accurate classroom inventory of equipment, materials, and supplies
  • Able to work flexible hours as needed for Family Engagement Activities, including but not limited to, parent workshops, home visits, parent teacher conferences, orientation, recruitment events, and open houses
  • Perform other duties, as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Employee must be capable of performing physical demands of the job, including but not limited to, lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, and standing for long periods of time. Work environment has a raised noise level.
