Product Development Intern - Fall 2026

Dates: 2026 Fall Semester
Schedule: 15-20 hours per week
Location: On-site in Boise, Idaho
Compensation: $17 per hour
Employment Type: Temporary, part-time employee

The Opportunity

Saalt is looking for an organized, curious, and hands-on Product Development Intern to join our team for Fall 2026.

A key focus of this internship will be supporting the organization of Saalt's Product Development library, including product samples, materials, packaging, color standards, and lab dips. The intern will help ensure that samples and development records are clearly labeled, documented, and easy for the team to locate.


In addition to library organization, the intern will gain broad exposure to how consumer products move from concept through development and launch. They will support projects across product research, sampling, testing, packaging, and cross-functional coordination.


What You'll Do

  • Organize and maintain Saalt's Product Development sample and materials library
  • Receive, label, photograph, file, and track incoming product and packaging samples
  • Help catalog lab dips, shade bands, color standards, fabrics, trims, and materials
  • Maintain consistent physical and digital naming and filing systems
  • Prepare samples and materials for team reviews and meetings
  • Update Product Development trackers, timelines, and project documentation
  • Conduct market, material, packaging, and competitive research
  • Help analyze market trends and customer feedback to identify relevant insights
  • Support product testing, wearer trials, surveys, and focus groups
  • Assist with packaging development and sample reviews
  • Prepare comparison charts, presentations, and project recaps
  • Support communication and follow-up with internal teams and external partners
  • Participate in weekly Product Development and relevant cross-functional meetings
  • Assist with additional product launches and development priorities as needed

  • A clear and thoughtful written and verbal communicator
  • Comfortable collaborating with teams across Product Development, Creative, Marketing, Operations, and Supply Chain
  • Visually minded, with an interest in branding, packaging, and how products are presented to customers
  • Comfortable using Excel or Google Sheets and PowerPoint or Google Slides
  • Dependable, adaptable, and able to follow projects through to completion
  • Comfortable asking questions, sharing ideas, and receiving feedback

Previous internship, coursework, or project experience related to product development, merchandising, consumer research, packaging, or project coordination is helpful but not required.


Internship Structure

The Product Development Intern will:

  • Work closely with an assigned Product Development supervisor
  • Participate in regular check-ins, feedback, and goal-setting
  • Attend relevant department and project meetings
  • Receive hands-on experience with Saalt's samples, materials, color, and development processes
  • Receive support with school paperwork when completing the internship for academic credit


Academic credit may be available depending on your school's requirements. Applicants are responsible for confirming eligibility and credit-hour requirements with their college or university. Academic credit is optional and does not replace compensation.
