Job description

Position Purpose and Objectives

The Learning and Development Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting the delivery of engaging learning experiences that drive employee performance and business outcomes. This role partners cross departmentally with stakeholders to assess learning needs and translate complex information into clear, effective, and visually engaging training solutions.

Major Duties and Essential Functions

  • Design and develop instructor-led, blended, and supporting learning resources for corporate adult learners
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to assess learning needs and develop targeted training plans aligned with business goals
  • Translate complex concepts, processes, and technical information into clear, easy-to-understand learning content
  • Create visually engaging training materials, including presentations, job aids, and supporting resources (strong design skills required)
  • Design interactive and engaging learning activities that promote participation and knowledge retention
  • Conduct engaging and efficient training sessions for groups of varying sizes (in-person and virtual, as needed)
  • Partner with SMEs, Corporate Trainers, Instructional Designer, and other stakeholders to analyze course objectives and develop effective learning experiences and materials
  • Independently manage learning projects from intake through design, development, delivery, and evaluation
  • Support the Senior Instructional Designer with course development, content creation, and broader learning initiatives
  • Manage and maintain learning content within the Learning Management System (LMS), including uploading courses and resources, assigning training, managing users, and tracking completion
  • Coordinate training logistics, including scheduling, communications, learner enrollment, and follow-up activities
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training initiatives through feedback, reporting, and data analysis, and recommend improvements
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and development across the organization

Specific knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position:

  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex information into clear, learner-friendly content
  • Confident facilitator with strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience designing engaging learning experiences for adult learners
  • Strong visual design skills with experience creating professional training materials (Canva or Adobe Illustrator preferred or proficiency in comparable design tools)
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including SMEs, Corporate Trainers, and Instructional Designers
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt quickly, think critically, and pivot approaches in response to changing needs, feedback, or live facilitation dynamics

Preferred (not required):

  • Experience developing self-paced eLearning courses (Articulate Rise or similar tools)
  • Experience working with a Learning Management System (LMS)

Education: Bachelor’s degree in  Business, Finance or Education.         

Learning and Experience

  • Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in Learning & Development, training, or instructional design
  • Experience in a financial institution or corporate environment preferred
