ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Senior Associate, Learning & Development, you will help design and develop high-quality learning experiences that build critical capabilities across SC Johnson. Working closely with Learning Managers, subject matter experts and the Learning Operations team, you will support learning initiatives from initial need through design, development, launch and continuous improvement.
This role combines learning program design and development with foundational instructional design capabilities. You will partner with Learning Managers to translate identified business and capability needs into practical, engaging and scalable learning solutions, while independently owning defined components of learning projects and programs.
You will also apply instructional design principles and learning technologies to develop learning materials across multiple formats, including instructor-led, virtual and digital learning. This may include developing eLearning using tools such as Articulate Rise and creating or editing video and other digital learning content.
Reporting to the Learning Operations Manager, work assignments and priorities will be managed through the Global Learning & Development team's work intake process. This role provides an opportunity to develop broad L&D expertise while gaining experience in learning consulting, program design, instructional design and learning technology.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Learning Program Design & Development
  • Partner with Learning Managers to design and develop learning programs and experiences aligned with identified business and capability needs.
  • Support discovery and design by gathering information, conducting research, and partnering with subject matter experts to translate business needs and expertise into practical learning solutions.
  • Translate learning objectives and requirements into effective program architectures, learning journeys, workshops, activities and supporting resources.
  • Independently own defined components of larger learning initiatives, managing assigned work from design through development and implementation.
  • Develop facilitator guides, participant materials, job aids, activities, assessments, presentations and other learning resources using established L&D frameworks and adult learning principles.
  • Review existing learning content and recommend opportunities to improve, simplify, modularize or repurpose materials to increase effectiveness and scalability.
  • Manage assigned learning deliverables, timelines and development activities across multiple projects, communicating progress, and risks to Learning Managers and other partners.
  • Incorporate learner, stakeholder and program feedback into ongoing improvements to learning solutions.
  • Support implementation and delivery of learning programs as needed, including virtual and in-person learning experiences.

Instructional Design & Digital Learning Development
  • Apply foundational instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles to the development of learning solutions.
  • Develop and update digital learning experiences using Articulate Rise and other available eLearning authoring tools.
  • Convert existing presentations, documents and subject matter expert content into clear, engaging and learner-centered materials.
  • Develop storyboards, scripts, knowledge checks, assessments and other components of digital learning solutions.
  • Support quality assurance and testing of digital learning content prior to deployment.
  • Stay current on emerging learning technologies, AI-enabled development tools and instructional design practices and identify appropriate opportunities to apply them.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING
  • Bachelor's degree in Learning & Development, Instructional Design, Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, Communications or a related field.
  • 2+ years of professional experience in Learning & Development, instructional design, training, curriculum development, talent development or a related field.
  • Experience designing or developing learning programs, training materials or employee development experiences.
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship for full-time employment.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and deliverables while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to organize complex information and translate it into clear, practical and engaging learning content.
  • Experience applying adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies to learning solutions.
  • Experience developing eLearning using Articulate Rise; exposure to Articulate Storyline or other eLearning authoring tools is a plus.
  • Experience with video or multimedia development tools such as Vyond, Camtasia, Synthesia or similar platforms.
  • Experience developing instructor-led and virtual learning materials, including facilitator guides, participant materials, presentations, activities and job aids.
  • Experience partnering with subject matter experts to gather, organize and translate content into learning experiences.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems; Workday Learning experience is a plus.
  • Strong PowerPoint and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and learner experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively while independently owning defined deliverables.
  • Strong organizational and basic project management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Curiosity about emerging learning technologies, including the use of generative AI in learning design and development.
  • Experience working in a corporate or highly matrixed organization is a plus.
