The Manufacturing Engineer, under moderate supervision, provides day-to-day support to production & distribution on Manufacturing Engineering related matters to ensure availability for assembly processes & equipment to collaborate on Production's metrics & goal achievement, meeting the applicable Safety, Quality, Health & Environmental and Human Resources policies and procedures.
This onsite position reports directly to the Director Operations.
Major Accountability:
  • Ensures processes are properly documented from work instructions through completion of drawings
  • Facilitates manufacturing roadmap (NPI) gate process with transition to mfg. site.
  • Works to continuously improve processes by using Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma tools
  • Ensures Product Structures and kits are correct
  • Ensures assembly times are monitored and documented, and related issues tracked, to provide input on needed improvements

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Prepares and revises Bills of Materials (Product Structures), drawings and work instructions for Manufacturing while interacting with hourly employees and office personnel.
  • Works on special projects including equipment justification, sales equipment redesign/new design and shop efficiency improvements. Conducts feasibility studies, determines manpower and cost estimates, and develops engineering criteria. Performs analyses to develop design options or recommendations for structures, systems and components.
  • Supports Lean Initiatives throughout the plant, identifies potential areas for improvement. Working cross functionally with other team members has primary responsibility for process design and modifications. Continuously improving the workflow and procedures in the assembly of equipment
  • Researches, sources, and documents proposals for new equipment and manufacturing methods. Implements solutions when approved.
  • Performs role on Safety Incident Investigation Teams, as needed. Conducts safety inspections and tasks as required. Creating Job Safety Analysis (JSA)

Education, Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical preferred); candidates with a minimum of six years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • Proficient in Autodesk 2015, including both 2D and 3D applications.
  • Strong continuous-improvement mindset with exposure to - or certification in - LEAN Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods working on a computer; role may also require frequent walking and/or standing.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% as needed.
