Position Title: 2nd Shift Plant Superintendent

Position Summary: The 2nd Shift Operations Superintendent is a high-impact manufacturing leadership role responsible for driving safe, high-quality, and efficient production during off-shift operations. You will serve as the operations leader on 2nd shift, empowering teams, strengthening lean culture, and ensuring seamless continuity across all shifts.

This role is ideal for emerging or established leaders who want to accelerate their careers in operations, supply chain, manufacturing engineering, or continuous improvement - and who thrive in a dynamic, autonomous environment. Upon completion, you will be ready for promotional opportunities to further advance in MTM.

Reports To: Director of Manufacturing

Personnel: Manufacturing personnel assigned to the shift.

What You’ll Lead & Achieve
  • Lead 2nd shift operations - Drive safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance across all assigned personnel.
  • Assist in developing technical talent - Mentor machinists, fabricators, assemblers, and manufacturing personnel; support skills progression and training.
  • Champion lean culture - Reinforce 6S, standard work, waste elimination, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure shift continuity - Own carryover communication between 1st and 3rd shifts; resolve open issues before handoff.
  • Solve technical challenges - Provide expert troubleshooting when engineering and support teams are off-shift.
  • Drive process improvement - Lead CI initiatives that improve flow, reduce waste, and enhance quality.
  • Lead safety culture - Ensure safe operations, respond to incidents, and maintain facility readiness.
  • Act as shift leader on site - Make critical decisions and maintain operational stability during off-shift hours.

Job Qualification Requirements:

  • Four-year Engineering, Leadership, or Supply Chain degree, or other relevant major, from an accredited university or college
  • GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 out of 4.0 scale

OR

  • High school diploma or GED; technical or vocational training preferred
  • 10+ years of manufacturing experience
  • Supervisory experience
  • Strong machine or fabrication expertise
  • Knowledge of quality systems, NDT, materials, heat treatment, and manufacturing software
Preferred
  • Engineering, supply chain, or technical degree
  • Lean or CI experience
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to lead teams and influence outcomes
  • Analytical problem-solving ability
  • Demonstrated humility, openness, and collaboration
  • Ability to operate independently during off-shift hours

Physical Demands – Normally works in a shop environment and may frequently be subject to:

  • high noise levels from machinery
  • physical hazards from moving equipment and production components
  • breathing fumes, dust and mist
  • skin exposure to oils and cutting fluids.
  • welding flashes

Certification Required – Not applicable

Visual Acuity – Near acuity and accommodation are required for reading machine dial gauges, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts and machinery.

Hearing Ability – Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action.
