Manufacturing Engineer – Heavy Manufacturing Environment
We’re looking for a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer who enjoys being on the production floor and driving real operational improvements in a fast-paced heavy manufacturing environment.
This role will focus on process optimization, Lean Manufacturing initiatives, workflow improvements, capital projects, equipment installations, and continuous improvement activities that directly impact safety, quality, productivity, and operational performance.
The ideal candidate will have experience with:
• Manufacturing process improvement
• AutoCAD / facility layouts
• Time studies & workflow analysis
• BOMs, routings, work instructions
• PFMEA, Control Plans, process flow documentation
• Lean Manufacturing / Kaizen initiatives
• CAPEX & equipment implementation projects
• Cross-functional manufacturing leadership

SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE
The Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in driving operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives within a heavy manufacturing environment. This position is highly hands-on with significant production floor presence, focused on improving manufacturing processes, optimizing workflow, increasing productivity, enhancing safety, and supporting quality initiatives across the operation. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management, process engineering, and problem-solving skills with the ability to lead improvement efforts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, and cost reduction
• Develop manufacturing layouts utilizing AutoCAD and DWG software
• Create and maintain process documentation including BOMs, routings, work instructions, process flow charts, control plans, and PFMEAs
• Conduct time studies, workflow analysis, and manufacturing process evaluations to improve operational performance
• Research and evaluate manufacturing methods, materials, tooling, and equipment to support operational improvements
• Provide project management support for capital projects, equipment installations, and process improvement initiatives
• Develop and maintain project timelines, schedules, and Gantt charts to ensure successful execution of projects
• Collaborate closely with Lean Manufacturing teams to implement and sustain continuous improvement activities
• Participate in Kaizen and Lean events while ensuring long-term effectiveness and sustainability of implemented improvements
• Provide leadership and technical guidance during manufacturing improvement activities and project execution
• Interface with equipment manufacturers, operations, maintenance, quality, engineering, and safety teams to support successful implementation of new processes and equipment
• Support major equipment installations, commissioning activities, and production start-ups
• Develop maintenance schedules, calibration requirements, machine guarding, and operating procedures to support safe and reliable operations
• Train production and support personnel on new processes, equipment, and standard work procedures
• Work closely with Operations Management to establish and achieve goals related to safety, quality, delivery, and productivity improvements
• Support CAPEX justification activities by developing ROI analysis and supporting project documentation
• Provide regular updates regarding project status, timelines, risks, and improvement initiatives
• Escalate obstacles and seek support as needed to ensure successful project completion
QUALIFICATIONS
• Strong hands-on manufacturing engineering experience within a heavy manufacturing or industrial production environment
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, process improvement, and continuous improvement methodologies
• Working knowledge of APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and manufacturing process development
• Strong project management and organizational skills
• Ability to effectively communicate and work cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, quality, engineering, and leadership teams
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, DWG, Microsoft Office, and manufacturing documentation systems preferred
• Strong production floor presence with the ability to drive initiatives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
