Position Summary

The Material Handler supports the end-to-end flow of materials within the Materials Management department, including receiving, storing, inventory control, order fulfillment, and shipping support. This is a non-union, Monday through Friday, 1st shift position from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.


This role helps ensure accurate documentation, efficient coordination between locations, adherence to FIFO and safety standards, and organized warehouse operations. The Material Handler will also provide support to team members through training, guidance, issue resolution, and day-to-day workflow assistance.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in unloading, moving, storing, and pulling transfer materials, supplies, and equipment for shipping.
  • Follow packing lists, shipping orders, written instructions, and verbal direction.
  • Receive incoming transfer materials, perform checks, report discrepancies, and store items according to FIFO standards.
  • Fulfill orders, prepare shipments, and ensure accurate documentation and labeling.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and support efficient material flow between plants and departments.
  • Coordinate schedules and material movement to support production, warehouse, and shipping needs.
  • Assist in organizing daily workflow and ensuring materials are moved safely and efficiently.
  • Provide guidance, direction, and assistance to team members.
  • Help train new employees on processes, procedures, equipment usage, and safety expectations.
  • Operate lift equipment safely and efficiently while following proper lifting techniques and safety protocols.
  • Ensure equipment is properly maintained and report any equipment malfunctions, material defects, or safety concerns to supervision.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Follow all safety regulations, company policies, and departmental procedures.
  • Use tools, equipment, and materials properly and safely.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior material handling, warehouse, shipping, receiving, inventory, or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Previous lift truck experience preferred, especially stand-up models.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.
  • Ability to delegate, guide team members, and support daily workflow.
  • Safety-focused and team-oriented.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work at heights as required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and internal partners.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

  • Must be comfortable working in a warehouse and manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50–60 lbs. as needed.
  • May be required to stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, climb, or move throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to safely operate lift equipment and other material handling equipment as required.
  • The noise level in the work environment may vary based on production and warehouse activity.
