Job description

Position: Social Worker Supervisor, LCSW

Reports to: Program Director

Classification: Consultant

The Social Worker Supervisor, LCSW is responsible for the assessment and diagnosis of mental health conditions, consistent with the DSM 5, for homeless clients at HPCDC’s family shelters.

Responsibilities:

  • The Social Worker Supervisor, LCSW meets with the residents to complete a psychiatrically focused biopsychosocial summary (BPS).
  • Work from a strength based, family focused, client centered perspective and identify the strengths that each client has.
  • Communicates with Social Service staff for information related to the client’s current behaviors in shelter as well as their history related to medical, psychiatric, substance use, social services, criminal justice, vocational, employment, family, and social supports.
  • Produce a narrative BPS document consistent with the format required by Dept of Homeless Services (DHS) to satisfy the Supportive Housing Application.
  • Ensure that each assessment session is documented in database system, CARES.
  • Maintain NYS Licensure to provide clinical services independently.
  • Adhere to all ethical standards in accordance with the NASW Code of Ethics.

Qualifications:

  • Masters’ degree in Social Work, and a current license as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
  • Knowledge of DSM 5 diagnostic criteria.
  • Experience working in a mental health and/or substance use setting.
  • Strong expertise in strengths-based, solution-focused, and family-centered practice.
  • Knowledge and experience working with diverse cultures and ethnicities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Requirements:

  • Consultant is to hold and submit proof of general and professional liability naming the agency and the work locations as additional insured.
  • Consultant is also to hold own Workers’ compensation and submit proof of insured.
