POSITION SUMMARY

The Security Guard will be responsible for the security and order of the plant, grounds, and work site. This role reports to the Security Supervisor and is based out of our Sparta, Michigan location.


Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, contractors, visitors and other persons to maintain security of premises
  • Sign in vendors and contractors, and issue appropriate badges
  • Report bulk tanker deliveries to blend room personnel and track tankers on the weekly delivery schedule
  • For incoming trucks, verify seal number and integrity, record trucks in log book and direct them to the appropriate dock or shipping and receiving (S&R) office
  • Verify that trailer seal number matches seal recorded on bill of lading for outgoing trucks and inspect integrity of trailer door and door seals per SQF shipping procedures
  • Monitor security camera footage
  • Patrol premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, gates, chemical cage, etc
  • Monitor refrigeration and freezer temperatures, including blend room tanks, specifically when production, blending and maintenance personnel are unavailable, such as weekends and holidays; report deviations to the designated employees
  • Follow/complete weekend rounds checklist and keep records on file.
  • During after-hours rounds, monitor for trash, pest control and other types of facility emergencies (e.g., leaks, etc)
  • Write and submit to Director of Transportation reports of daily activities and irregularities
  • Monitor weather during severe weather conditions and report to crisis management team as needed
  • Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Must hold a high school diploma or equivalent
  • 0-1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a typical office setting; driving a motor vehicle and occasionally working in the field.

FREQUENT: Ability to talk and hear; ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, bend and/or crouch; push/pull; lift up to 50 pounds; use of hands and fingers to operate machinery/equipment and all manual and electronic equipment in area of responsibility. Exposure to wet and humid conditions and fluctuations in ambient temperature.

OCCASIONAL: Squatting, kneeling, ability to reach above and at shoulder height.
