GC LabTech, Inc. is seeking an experienced Medical Technologist to join our team. GCLT exclusively performs testing for source plasma donation in our state-of-the-art laboratory, combining technology and automation to swiftly process hundreds of thousands of donors annually!
JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsible for daily testing in the laboratory or a specialized subsection of the laboratory. This includes testing samples in accordance with Good Laboratory Practice and compliance with GC LabTech policies, procedures, and directives regarding the quality, integrity, and testing of samples.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
ยท Receive and access samples from clients. Test samples according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and verify results in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
ยท Perform, monitor, and evaluate quality control data; determine trends, causes, or patterns of acceptability or unacceptability of results and initiate corrective action as needed.
ยท Assist in the validation of new laboratory tests and/or instruments.
ยท Perform routine maintenance on equipment as needed. Troubleshoot instruments, resolve technical problems, document and initiate corrective action plans, and follow through as needed.
ยท Follow, monitor, and enforce all laboratory safety guidelines.
ยท Travel as required to attend instrument training or continuing education provided by the manufacturer or other company requirements.
ยท Assist with receipt, management of supplies and reagents, and notify appropriate personnel when new supplies are needed. Prepare, label, and test reagents as required.
ยท Accurately and consistently complete the detailed documentation as required by the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and other federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, laws, and GC LabTech policies and procedures.
ยท Assist in the development and/or revision of laboratory SOPs.
ยท Perform/schedule/plan routine maintenance on equipment as needed to minimize the impact on workflow.
ยท Continuously support the organizationโ€™s mission, vision, values, and high standards.
ยท Any other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
ยท Bachelor's degree in medical technology or laboratory science, or in one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences.
ยท Minimum 5 years of related laboratory experience
ยท Ability to work flexible schedule(s) to meet business and production needs
ยท Applicant must be authorized to work in the U.S.; the company does not sponsor visas for candidates who require an H-1b Visa
ยท Fluently speak, read, and write English. Professional phone and interpersonal communication skills
ยท Strong organizational skills
Preferred Skills
ยท MT/MLS (ASCP) or equivalent is highly desired
ยท 3 -5 years of high-volume clinical, reference, or specialty laboratory experience
ยท Ability to work in a team environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The job responsibilities require frequent standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, stooping, crouching, balancing, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds. Manual dexterity is necessary. Normal color perception is required (color blind test required).
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional lab environment. This position is OSHA Category I, as an employee must work under conditions where there is potential to come into contact with blood or blood components due to splashes, spills, and/or sharps. Immunizations/vaccinations: Hep B vaccination is highly encouraged.
