Job Title: Lab Manager

Job Description

This role oversees laboratory testing of concrete materials, focusing on slump, density, and moisture analysis in a controlled lab setting. The Lab Manager ensures accurate testing, clear documentation of findings, and effective communication with project stakeholders, while maintaining strict safety standards and supporting the ongoing improvement of laboratory operations. This opportunity offers a lot of autonomy being that the Lab Manager will have flexibility to run the lab to their standards!

Responsibilities

  • Perform concrete testing in the laboratory, including slump tests, density measurements, and moisture analysis, following established procedures and standards.
  • Communicate proactively with project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, contractor representatives, and other stakeholders regarding construction site conditions, project requirements, and testing, observation, and inspection needs and results.
  • Transport material samples from construction sites to the laboratory, ensuring all samples are accompanied by accurate and complete identifying documentation.
  • Tabulate and prepare testing data and observations in both written and digital formats, submitting daily reports and results for transmittal to the Project Manager.
  • Maintain, clean, and organize laboratory equipment, vehicles, and work areas to ensure a safe, efficient, and compliant work environment.
  • Adhere to strict safety standards and protocols at all times, promoting a culture of safety within the laboratory.
  • Provide clear, detailed documentation of findings and test results to support project decisions and quality control requirements.
  • Participate in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility, taking on more complex work assignments and contributing to the advancement of laboratory practices.
  • Support asphalt testing and other related materials testing as required by project needs.
  • Use nuclear density gauges and other specialized laboratory instruments in accordance with safety and operational guidelines.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Albany, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $40.00/hr.
