NDT Lab Manager Job Summary
Develop, implement, and maintain the laboratory's Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with applicable standards (e.g., ISO 17025, ASME, ASTM, NADCAP, etc.).
Ensure all NDT procedures (e.g., UT, RT, MT, PT, VT, ET) are conducted in compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal quality standards.
Serve as the primary liaison with accreditation bodies and regulatory agencies during audits and assessments.
Oversee document control, calibration records, proficiency testing, and nonconformance investigations.
Lead internal audits and facilitate corrective and preventive action processes.
Monitor quality metrics and generate reports for senior management, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
Collaborate with technical staff and NDT Level II and III personnel to ensure proper training, certification, and competency evaluations.
Conduct and facilitate root cause analyses for quality issues and customer complaints.
Ensure traceability, proper handling of test specimens, and integrity of test data.
Manage supplier quality and evaluate subcontracted services to ensure they meet company and client standards.
Stay up-to-date with evolving industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Level 3 Consultant / Trainer Job Summary
Maintain relationships with customers by checking in and scheduling visits to the facility
Write NDT procedures, techniques, written practices
Write NDT general and specific examinations
Develop and maintain customer NDT programs
Audit customer NDT programs
Act as External Level 3 for customers
Administer qualification examinations
Review and document qualifications of Level 2s and 3s for certification
Consult on issues customers are having
Represent customers during audits including customer and Nadcap
Understand, apply and impart the essential facts and principles covering the methods of Nondestructive Testing to students using a variety of instructional techniques
Show personal interest in students and create a climate conducive to optimal learning
Develop and administer formal training courses both at customer facilities and in PNRs classroom. Some virtual training may be required.
Mentor students and trainees towards certification
Learn from Senior Level 3 in all of the above duties
Required Qualifications
Certified NDT Level 3 and the ability to teach/consult in at least 3 of the following methods: MT, PT, UT, RT, VT, ET, TIR, LT
Work toward obtaining ASNT NDT Level 3 in at least 5 methods
Ability to develop and administer course curriculum and outlines
Ability to develop and administer qualification examinations
5 years Level II experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Must be VERY fluent in written and spoken English
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Desired Qualifications
Current ASNT NDT Level 3
NAS410 Level 3 qualified
Ability to teach/consult advanced methods: UT Detection and Sizing, Phased Array, TOFD, Digital/Computed RT, etc. and / or willingness to learn to teach these advanced methods
Salary and Benefits
Expected salary range is 115,000 to 150,000 annually. Salary is commensurate with experience and certifications. Benefits include health, dental and life insurance, paid vacation, certification reimbursement, and retirement. Relocation assistance or signing bonus is available for well qualified candidates.
