Job Summary We are seeking a Lab Associate to support laboratory operations by performing sample processing, laboratory testing activities, data management, inventory control, and administrative tasks. This role plays a key part in ensuring efficient laboratory workflows, maintaining quality standards, and supporting the timely processing of specimens. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and is comfortable working with biological specimens while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Key Responsibilities Perform laboratory analyses and testing activities to support the diagnosis of animal illnesses, injuries, and diseases. Process specimens, retrieve and release test results, and assist with laboratory research activities. Perform instrument testing protocols for new and existing products. Maintain laboratory schedules and communicate schedule updates as needed. Manage laboratory inventory, procure supplies, and maintain stock levels. Ensure laboratory equipment and workspaces are properly maintained and kept clean. Support and maintain laboratory processes, systems, and databases. Perform recordkeeping, data collection, and data analysis activities. Transcribe and edit pre-dictated medical reports using dictation and editing software and equipment. Perform administrative duties including: Answering phones. Preparing parcel deliveries. Filing requisitions. Supporting billing and pricing activities. Assisting with sample transportation processes. Receive and process incoming courier deliveries. Prepare specimens by unbagging, barcoding, and routing samples through laboratory workflows. Load samples into analyzers and centrifuges as required. Perform sample preparation procedures involving laboratory chemicals and solutions. Retrieve and manage specimens from refrigerated storage areas. Follow all laboratory safety procedures and quality standards. Required Qualifications Ability to read and interpret safety rules, standard operating procedures (SOPs), material safety data sheets (MSDSs), operating instructions, technical procedures, and applicable regulations. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Strong initiative, accountability, and follow-through. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Strong customer service and communication skills. Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office. Ability to meet physical requirements of the role, including occasional lifting and moving of materials up to 25 pounds. Ability and willingness to work with biological specimens, including blood, urine, fecal samples, and tissue specimens. Experience working in high-volume, fast-paced environments where standing, walking, and movement throughout the workday are required. Preferred Qualifications Previous laboratory experience, including specimen processing, accessioning, laboratory operations, or related functions. Experience working in high-volume laboratory environments, healthcare settings, hospitals, or diagnostic laboratories. Experience in veterinary laboratory, veterinary technician, or veterinary assistant roles. Experience in fulfillment, warehouse, production, logistics, food service, or similarly fast-paced operational environments. Familiarity with SAP or other enterprise systems. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Biology, Life Sciences, or a related field. Experience supporting laboratory modernization, workflow optimization, or process improvement initiatives.
