Job description

Crystal Clean (CC) is one of the nation's leading privately held companies in the environmental waste services industry. We are seeking highly motivated individuals with a strong work ethic to join our rapidly growing company. Purpose: The Lab Technician's primary responsibility is the management of the analytical requirements for the operation of the Re-Refinery. The Lab Technician performs the analytical testing for all material receipts, tank testing and process samples and coordinates any sampling and testing by internal and external laboratories. The person in this position must be familiar with the operation of the facility in order to interpret the analytical results and provide input and suggested operating moves and conditions to the plant operators and Facility Manager. This position is responsible for the "gatekeeper" requirements for the facility including setting up sampling protocols and procedures and with the Facility Manager, ensure that these protocols and procedures are implemented and followed. In addition to these duties, the Lab Technician may be asked to perform other duties at the facility (based upon the size and staffing of the facility) including operating the processing unit or off-loading/loading trucks. Due to the Lab Technician's understanding of the facility and its operations, this position will perform the duties of the Facility Manager in her/his absence.
Essential Duties:
  • Responsible for working safely in all job aspects and functions.
  • Operates, maintains and calibrates laboratory equipment
  • Conducts all receipt testing to ensure compliance with permits, company standards and facility requirements.
  • Conducts routine product quality control and product or specification compliance testing.
  • Implements facility QA/QC programs based on best practices by sampling various points in the process and conducting QA/QC tests as required.
  • Enters and maintains lab results in proper databases and written records, analyzes results and communicates results to management and other personnel to facilitate process adjustment where needed.
  • Communicates with production department to ensure effective participation by the process operators in the implementation of QA/QC policies and procedures.
  • Monitors use and inventories of laboratory chemicals and supplies
  • Maintains housekeeping standards in own work area
  • Develops ways and means to operate more effectively.
  • Adheres to all corporate policies and standards including but not limited to environmental and regulatory, human resources, facility, equipment, operations and maintenance.
  • Assist in various job capacities to support efficient operations
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for working safely in all job aspects and functions.

Other Duties
  • Provides support for other Facility functions and performs others duties as may be assigned and directed by Facility Manager.

Work Experience

Education, Certificates, Licenses, or Designations
  • Associates Degree in Chemistry or related field is desired
  • High school diploma or its equivalent

Specific Skills
  • Basic knowledge of analytical chemistry with emphasis on performance of standard laboratory tests and quality standards involved.

Work Environment: While performing essential duties of this position an individual regularly works both outdoors and indoors, with moderate physical activity including, walking and lifting objects, typically no over 30 pounds. Individual will be required to regularly talk, hear, see and often reach with hands, stand, walk, use a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other office equipment.
