Position Summary:
The responsibilities of this position are to perform lab support duties and tasks all the Protein Sciences Segment of the company and to perform functions for harvesting and concentrating of cell cultures for protein and antibody production. These responsibilities include collecting and washing used labware, preparing the labware sterilization, running and maintaining labware processing equipment, maintaining and calibrating equipment, maintaining inventory, organizing and unpacking materials for inventory, prepare buffers and solutions and media, prepare plates, and harvesting and concentration of cell culture media. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
Operates Autoclave, labware washer and hand washes labware per department's protocols. Prepares labware for sterilization and schedules and operates the autoclave to ensure a supply of clean labware is available for each department.
Harvests and concentrates conditioned media and perform steps to prepare for product purification, including cGMP productions.
Operates and performs routine maintenance on Chlorine Dioxide gas sterilization room.
Produces, prepares, and handles materials for cGMP production.
Handles bio-hazardous waste following safety procedures.
Maintains documentation of laboratory methods.
Manufactures solutions, medias, and plates.
Cleans and maintains general work areas.
Helps to perform equipment calibrations, validations, and maintenance.
Upholds teamwork efforts and a pleasant work environment to maintain a positive work environment.
Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Handbook and follows guidelines regarding safety as outlined in the AWAIR, Chemical Hygiene and Exposure Control manuals in accordance to the job.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel are required along with computer entry and/or typing skills are desirable. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, multi task, and have good communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of general lab equipment, and centrifuge
Knowledge of safety and company rules and policies.
Skills in establishing effective interpersonal relationships.
Skills in problem solving and critical thinking, including the ability to identify and appropriately evaluate an alternative course of action.
Ability to plan, organize and multi-task to complete assignments in an efficient manner.
Ability to communicate professionally, both oral and written.
Ability to pay attention to details and perform at a high-level accuracy.
Ability to work independently and with a team.
Ability to work hours that conform to standard business operations (8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.)
