Korean Restaurant information

What is a Korean restaurant?

A Korean restaurant job involves working in a dining establishment that serves traditional Korean cuisine. Roles may include servers, chefs, kitchen assistants, and hosts, each responsible for providing quality food and service. Employees may take orders, prepare dishes like kimchi and bibimbap, maintain cleanliness, and ensure a positive dining experience. Some positions may require knowledge of Korean culture and language skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Korean restaurant position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Korean Restaurant worker, you need in-depth knowledge of Korean cuisine, strong food preparation skills, and relevant experience in food service or hospitality. Familiarity with kitchen appliances, point-of-sale (POS) systems, and adherence to food safety certifications such as ServSafe are typically required. Outstanding teamwork, cultural sensitivity, and excellent communication help you stand out in this environment. These skills and qualities are essential for delivering authentic dishes, maintaining high service standards, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

What are typical advancement opportunities for employees working at a Korean restaurant?

Employees at Korean restaurants often start in entry-level positions such as server, line cook, or kitchen assistant, but there is significant potential for growth. With dedication and skill development, team members can move into roles like lead chef, kitchen manager, or front-of-house supervisor. Many restaurants also encourage staff to take on additional responsibilities, learn new recipes, and contribute to menu development, which helps build valuable experience. Advancement is often based on demonstrated reliability, culinary creativity, and strong leadership, providing a rewarding career path for those passionate about Korean cuisine.

Job description

Manager Trainer — Wiserise Hospitality Group

Full-Time | $22–$28/hr | [Fayetteville - Greenville - Wilmington]

What You Do

You train new General Managers.

You watch them work, sign off when they get it right, and hold them back when they don't. No babysitting — you set the standard and enforce it.

The Job

  • Run new manager through our 30-day training program (3 phases, 17 tasks)
  • Watch them open and close shifts — verify they can do it alone
  • Score their logbooks, huddles, and guest complaints
  • Sign off on tasks the same day they're done
  • Give the 3 checkpoint tests (Day 10, 20, 30)
  • Pass them or send them back for more training

You Must Have

  • 2+ years as a GM in a full-service restaurant
  • Managed a team of 15+ people
  • Know your labor %, food cost %, and how to read a P&L
  • Can give direct feedback without sugarcoating it

You're the Right Person If

  • You ran a restaurant that hit its numbers
  • You've hired, coached, and fired people before
  • You don't need to be liked — you need to be right

You're Not the Right Person If

  • You've never managed a full shift alone
  • You think everyone deserves to pass
