Job description

Job Title: EHS & HR Coordinator

Location: Athens, GA

KMC Rubber is seeking a detail-oriented and results driven individual to act as a bridge between management and the workforce to join our Athens, GA team.

Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) - 50%

  • Safety Training: Conduct safety orientations for new hires, maintain the New Hire Onboarding Matrix, and organize ongoing training (forklift, lockout/tagout, PPE).
  • Inspections & Compliance: Tour the plant floor daily to identify hazardous conditions, conduct regular safety audits, and ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Incident Investigation: Lead investigation of accidents, near misses, and injuries, creating detailed reports and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Recordkeeping: Maintain the OSHA 300 log and manage SDS (Safety Data Sheets) for all raw materials on-site.
  • Safety Committee: Facilitate Safety Committee meetings and ensure safety concerns identified during walk-throughs are resolved.

Human Resources (HR) - 50%

  • Onboarding/Offboarding: Manage the full employee onboarding and offboarding process, including E-Verify, I-9 compliance, and orientation.
  • Employee Relations: Act as the primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits, policies, and workplace questions.
  • Records Management: Maintain accurate employee personnel files, both electronic and physical, in compliance with Georgia and federal laws.
  • Recruitment Support: Support talent acquisition by posting jobs, screening candidates, and scheduling interviews.
  • Workers' Compensation: Coordinate investigations, documentation, and follow-up.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 1–3 years of experience in a safety or HR role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field preferred; Associates degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and/or Google Workspace.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of OSHA 1910/1926 standards and GA state employment law.
  • Certifications: OSHA 10-Hour or 30-hour card preferred.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication skills, ability to maintain confidentiality, and ability to foster a proactive safety culture.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly walk through the production facility, climb stairs, and stand for extended periods.
