Job description

KMC Stampings is a premier metal fabricator offering engineering and tooling expertise driven by continuous improvement. KMC is seeking a 2nd Shift Quality Inspector to work in the inspection lab, perform layouts and gather the necessary data to review product off the machine to provide feedback for setups, product through the run and tooling samples. Work with Engineering to provide detail of product for improvements from samples. This position also is responsible for managing the programming standards that will be followed on all equipment such as CMM’s, Vision Systems, Scanning equipment, etc. at all the KMC facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Verify measurements are accurately staged and performed correctly by inspectors and operators for all measuring equipment used.
  • Inspect parts beyond first piece and last piece requirements, looking for other dimensions and defects not listed on the IPQR, total quality of the product, meeting all customer and KMC specifications.
  • Ensure inspection instructions and IPQR’s are clear and correct to ensure nonconforming product will be detected and is updated as appropriate.
  • Set and follow the KMC standards of practice of operations and programming methods to follow for all electronic measuring equipment such as CMM’s, Vision Systems, Scanning equipment etc.
  • Generate ISIR reports, CAP studies, reviewing material certifications. Support the measurements and review of Gage R&R’s.
  • Support the production staff to attain highest level of quality & maintain certification and support the audit system.
  • Support the MRB area and the quarantining of suspect product.
  • Handle and box product to maintain integrity of the part and accurate count of product.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or general education (GED) and at least 3 years related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Mechanical abilities - understanding how tooling can affect the outcome of product.
  • In depth knowledge of inspection equipment, stamping presses and tools.
  • Ability to use and train others in the use of Metrology equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, vision systems and CMM style equipment use.
  • Blueprint reading and interpretation skill at a high level with the ability to teach and train.
  • In depth knowledge of GD&T and the ability to read and understand engineering specifications.
  • Good math skills and comfortable working in English and Metric.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office programs such as Excel and Word
  • Understanding of ISO/IATF procedures and practices & Quality Assurance concepts.
  • Good organizational, communication and training skills.
