Are You Ready to Own the Kitchen?

Kitchen Manager | Cottonwood Restaurant & Bar | Truckee, CA

We are not looking for someone to manage a kitchen. We are looking for someone to lead one.

Cottonwood Restaurant & Bar has been a cornerstone of the Truckee community since 1989. It is a place with history in its walls and regulars who speak of it like they own it. We are the stewards of that tradition, and we need a Kitchen Manager who takes that responsibility as seriously as we do.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You will be on the line. You will be in the office. You will be the reason your team shows up ready and your guests leave satisfied. If you are looking for a title without accountability, this is not your place.

Who We Are Looking For

  • A proven kitchen leader with the technical chops to cook on the line and the discipline to manage the back office.
  • Someone who holds food quality, cleanliness, and consistency to an uncompromising standard, every shift, not just when it is convenient.
  • A people developer. You build cooks into a team. You give feedback, run reviews, and invest in the people around you.
  • A financial thinker. You understand food cost, labor cost, and what it takes to run a profitable kitchen.
  • ServSafe Manager Certified, or willing to obtain it.
  • Someone who communicates up clearly and often, no surprises, no silence.

What the Role Looks Like

This is a 40/50-hour week. It is not for the faint of heart. Here is what you will own:

  • Daily line cooking and service orchestration.
  • Scheduling, staffing, hiring, and when necessary, separation.
  • Invoice management, inventory, and daily financial reporting.
  • Food safety compliance and kitchen cleanliness standards.
  • Training and onboarding of all culinary staff.
  • Purchasing and vendor relationships in coordination with the Culinary Director.

What You Get

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits -- fully paid by us -- after 90 days.
  • A direct reporting relationship with the Culinary Director and General Manager who will invest in your growth.
  • The opportunity to put your stamp on a kitchen that has been a Truckee institution for over 35 years.

If you are a leader who finds pride in a clean kitchen, a dialed-in team, and a plate that goes out right every single time -- we want to meet you.
