Position Summary

The Logistics Manager is responsible for leading the planning, coordination, and execution of transportation and distribution activities across the organization. This role ensures products are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget while maintaining high service levels and supporting operational and customer commitments. Operating in a highly cross-functional, KPI-driven environment, this role partners closely with operations, procurement, customer service, and finance to optimize end-to-end supply chain performance. The Logistics Manager owns carrier relationships, logistics performance metrics, and continuous improvement efforts to enhance service, reduce cost, and improve efficiency.


Key Responsibilities

Logistics & Distribution Management

  • Own and oversee daily transportation, shipping, receiving, and distribution operations.
  • Lead coordination of inbound and outbound freight schedules to meet customer and production demands.
  • Ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods while maintaining service quality standards.
  • Own performance of freight cost, routing efficiency, and carrier outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with third-party logistics providers, freight carriers, and vendors.

KPI & Performance Management

  • Own, track, and report key logistics performance metrics including service, cost, and carrier performance.

  • Analyze operational data and implement corrective actions to improve results.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction and operational efficiency.

Cross-Functional Partnership & Influence

  • Partner with plant leadership, procurement, customer service, and finance to align logistics with production and customer needs.
  • Serve as the primary point of accountability for logistics performance across functions.
  • Influence decision-making to optimize service levels, cost structure, and operational efficiency.

  • Assist in the analysis of offsite warehousing strategy and optimization

  • Provide guidance and coordination to warehouse and operational teams without direct reporting authority.

Process Improvement

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on optimizing logistics performance.

  • Identify and implement scalable process improvements using Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Drive enhancements in routing, scheduling, and network efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5–7+ years of progressive logistics or supply chain experience.
  • Experience in a KPI-driven manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience negotiating freight contracts and carrier agreements.
  • Experience supporting multi-site logistics operations.
  • APICS, CSCP, CLTD, Lean Six Sigma, or related certification preferred


Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of logistics operations and transportation management.
  • Experience with ERP and transportation management systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
