Team Ardelyx is united by a shared mission and guided by our core values: Passionate, Fearless, Dedicated, and Inclusive.

We foster an inclusive environment where employees are respected, supported, and empowered to make an impact — both within our company and in the lives of patients we serve.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a Strategic Key Account Director, Nephrology. In this highly strategic, field-based role, you will engage key stakeholders across dialysis organizations, independent and medium-sized regional dialysis providers, and hospital-based dialysis programs, and other key regional accounts to drive product adoption and market access within the nephrology and dialysis care continuum. Reporting to the Lead, Key Accounts, Nephrology, you will serve as a critical liaison with priority regional and local accounts and help shape execution within dialysis organizations and nephrology channels.

The Key Account Director, Nephrology is responsible for the commercial promotion of Ardelyx’ XPHOZAH product line to selected dialysis provider organizations. Key responsibilities include leading the development and management of relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders across assigned dialysis provider organizations. This includes development and implementation of compliant and effective strategic and tactical plans for assigned accounts.  Additionally, the Key Account Director, Nephrology will be responsible for partnering with field sales on promotional and educational activities within their assigned accounts.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive product adoption within targeted dialysis organizations, hospital-based dialysis programs, large physician groups, Veterans Affairs (VA) facilities and Indian Health Services (IHS) by engaging strategic level stakeholders such as regional VPs, dialysis medical directors, clinic administrators, pharmacy directors, and key operational and formulary decision-makers
  • Build and maintain detailed account profiles, including dialysis treatment protocols, formulary pathways, order sets, pull-through opportunities, and key clinical and administrative influencers
  • Develop deep understanding of dialysis-administered therapies and how they are ordered, prepared, and delivered during or immediately surrounding in-center dialysis treatments
  • Evaluate the unique clinical, operational, and economic needs of dialysis providers and collaborate cross-functionally (Managed Markets, Trade, Value & Access, Contracting, Medical, HEOR, Marketing, Sales) to align solutions and optimize access
  • Engage dialysis clinic administrators, medical directors, pharmacy leaders, formulary decision makers, contracting stakeholders, and clinical staff (nurses, technicians, pharmacists) to support access, education, and adoption of the therapy within established dialysis protocols
  • Develop and execute account-specific business plans for all target accounts with clear access, pull-through, and educational tactics
  • Work collaboratively with Zone Directors, Area Business Directors, MSLs, and other field and cross-functional colleagues to ensure coordinated execution at the account and territory level
  • Partner with National Key Account Director and Managed Markets leadership to communicate contracts, pricing, reimbursement considerations, and economic value propositions tailored to dialysis and renal care customers
  • Support integration of the therapy into clinical workflows, including dialysis protocols, EMR order sets, standing orders, and chair-time scheduling considerations for in-center dialysis

Qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree with 8+ years working with dialysis organizations, nephrology practices, hospital-based dialysis programs, VA, IHS, and/or IDNs, with demonstrated success in complex account management, or equivalent experience
  • Experience engaging with medium-sized, independent, hospital-based and national dialysis providers strongly preferred
  • Contracting and account management experience, including negotiation and implementation of agreements
  • Strong knowledge of reimbursement, payer dynamics, and coverage considerations in the renal/dialysis space, including buy-and-bill and clinic-administered therapies
  • Experience collaborating across marketing, medical, field teams, and market access functions to execute integrated business plans
  • Understanding of EMR systems, dialysis unit workflows, and order set/protocol development for therapies administered during hemodialysis treatments
  • Experience in renal, nephrology, or dialysis-related therapeutics, particularly dialysis-administered therapies, strongly preferred
  • Ability to travel more than 50%
The anticipated annualized base pay range for this full-time position is $162,000-$225,000.
