Job description

Primary Purpose: The Junior Accountant supports the accounting and finance function by maintaining accurate financial records, processing routine transactions, assisting with reconciliations, and supporting month-end close activities. This role is ideal for an early-career accounting professional who is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to develop strong technical accounting skills in a fast-paced business environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare, enter, and review journal entries and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Process vendor invoices, employee expense reports, and customer payments in accordance with company procedures.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes by preparing schedules, reports, and account reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records, files, and documentation for internal review and audit support.
  • Assist with bank reconciliations and balance sheet accounts, including investigating discrepancies or reconciling items.
  • Prepare basic financial reports, spreadsheets, and analysis as requested by accounting leadership.
  • Assist various accounting and finance groups, including general accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cost accounting and treasury, with daily operations and reporting
  • Direct and help with implementation of various technology projects and platforms
  • Respond professionally to internal and external accounting inquiries, including vendor and department questions.
  • Follow established accounting policies, internal controls, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve accuracy.
  • Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Education, Qualities and Skills Required:

  • Associate degree or above in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 1-3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or internship experience preferred.
  • CPA a plus
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles, debits and credits, reconciliations, and financial documentation.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP systems preferred.
  • Understanding of technology and workflows.
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information with integrity and discretion.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and ask questions when clarification is needed.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify discrepancies and investigate basic accounting issues.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Supervisory Responsibility:

No direct supervision required.

Work Environment:

Typical office working environment which includes a workstation equipped with a computer and other office supplies necessary for daily tasks. Typically climate-controlled to provide a comfortable working temperature year-round. Lighting is usually a mix of natural and artificial sources to ensure sufficient lamination.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time salaried position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday. Expectations of 45 hours per week, to be worked during normal business hours.

Compensation and Benefits:

The budgeted salary range for this position is $60,000-$80,000, with a 10% annual bonus potential.
