Roles & Responsibilities: As a Senior Software Developer at MITRE, you will enjoy a collaborative environment where you work closely with others in an organization that encourages and values collaboration, mentoring, and continuous learning. You will have the opportunity to leverage and grow your hands-on software engineering expertise as you contribute to real challenges across a variety of domains. As part of the Software Engineering Division, you will develop your software architecture and engineering skills while delivering computing capabilities to address the challenges of our sponsors. While responding to these challenges, you will leverage and grow your hands-on skills with software design and development, engaging in the full software engineering lifecycle using modern technologies. Successful candidate will provide full stack development as part of a team responsible for prototype tools enabling data transformations for national security screening. The team also collaborates with the development team for the enterprise system, ensuring that functionality from the prototype tools is incorporated into the enterprise system, as appropriate. Basic Qualifications: * Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
* Demonstrated experience developing software in Python.
* Working knowledge of software development practices and the software lifecycle, with exposure to DevSecOps concepts and practices. * Familiarity with modern development approaches such as Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, Infrastructure as Code, and automated security and testing practices. * Experience using software development tools and frameworks, including source control tools such as Git. * Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technologies, tools, and frameworks quickly. * Ability to contribute effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team environment. * Demonstrated commitment to MITRE's mission and a desire to help solve critical national challenges. * Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues. * Strong ability to work with non-technical stakeholders to determine workflows, make recommendations, and design and develop solutions accordingly.
* Strong self-starter abilities as well as skills to approach and solve a problem independently.
* Must have an active Top Secret U.S Government issued Security Clearance. Per the U.S. Government's eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance.
* This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site Preferred Qualifications: * Strong interpersonal skills, coupled with excellent verbal and written communication abilities. * Experience applying full-stack application development practices in support of mission-focused software delivery.
* Experience with standards and specifications for the transmission of fingerprints and other biometric data, such as ANSI/NIST-ITL and FBI EBTS.
* Experience developing and deploying software in enclave or air-gapped environments.
* Familiarity and adaptability to various programming languages such as Perl, Java, Bash, C#.
* Experience with designing software for extract, transform, load (ETL) workflows. This requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s):
