Location: Glastonbury, CT


Overview:

GM2 Associates, Inc. is seeking a Full-time Senior Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer in our Glastonbury, CT office. The ideal candidate will be responsible for generating comprehensive construction documents, mentoring junior engineers, and providing support during the construction administration phase of projects. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful design and implementation of plumbing and fire protection systems across various large projects.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Construction Document Generation: Develop detailed construction documents, including drawings and specifications, for plumbing and fire protection systems, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Mentorship & Team Development: Guide and mentor junior engineers, providing technical support and fostering professional growth within the team. Encourage best practices and promote skill development in system design and project execution.
  • Systems Design and Analysis: Conduct system design, analysis, and calculations for plumbing and fire protection systems, ensuring efficiency and adherence to client requirements.
  • Construction Administration: Support the construction administration process by reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs (Requests for Information), and conducting site visits to ensure alignment with design intent.
  • Client Interaction: Collaborate with clients to understand project requirements and provide expert recommendations for plumbing and fire protection strategies.
  • Field Investigations: Undertake field investigations of existing systems to assess conditions and inform the design process.
  • Technical Knowledge Maintenance: Stay up to date with industry trends, codes, and standards, and maintain proficiency in relevant software tools and design practices.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in plumbing and fire protection engineering
  • Technical Knowledge: Proficient in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and calculation tools
  • Design & Compliance: Strong knowledge of plumbing and fire protection regulations
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
