Program Objective: The Junior Mortgage Loan Officer Program is a 12-month development program designed to prepare you to launch a successful career as a Mortgage Loan Officer. During this program, you will virtually attend the Xinnix Mortgage Academy, graduate as a Xinnix Certified Loan Officer, while also receiving mentorship and hands-on training, along with additional internal and external learning opportunities. Upon successful completion, you will transition into the Mortgage Loan Officer role.

Summary:

Accountable for building and maintaining relationships with referral sources to generate mortgage loan opportunities. Responsibilities include providing information during client inquiries, referencing appropriate mortgage programs and guidelines, and inviting clients to complete a mortgage loan application when appropriate. Under the direct supervision of the Mortgage Business Development Manager, this position interviews mortgage loan applicants in a professional and efficient manner by securing a complete application and all necessary supporting documentation for submission to loan processing.

Essential Duties:

During the Junior Mortgage Loan Officer program, you will work under the direct guidance and mentorship of the Mortgage Business Development Manager to develop the skills necessary to independently perform the following:

  • Make sales calls to realtors, builders, and other key referral partners to solicit mortgage loans, build relationships, and promote bank products and services
  • Educate applicants on loan products, costs, and closing fees associated with their loan request
  • Interview loan applicants to gather and document income, debt, credit history, employment, and other relevant information
  • Request, collect, and review required documentation including tax returns, W2s, purchase agreements, legal descriptions, verifications, and other materials necessary to process a loan application
  • Evaluate applicant information to determine qualification status or identify additional information needed for further consideration
  • Communicate with applicants to resolve discrepancies such as credit issues, unlisted debts, or missing information
  • Submit complete loan applications and supporting documentation to loan processing
  • Inform loan applicants of loan approval or denial outcomes
  • Participate in daily and/or weekly accountability meetings with Mortgage Business Development Manager to review performance, processes, and pipeline and weekly meetings with loan processor to review pipeline and processes
  • Attend and actively participate in all required meetings
  • Provide transparent, professional communication with team members, management, clients, business and referral partners, and prospective clients
  • Meet established monthly production and activity goals
  • Track and report the number of sales calls and business development activities
  • Attend loan closings
  • Comprehend, adhere, and maintain compliance with all bank policies, procedures, and applicable government regulations

Other Duties:

  • Participate in personal and professional development opportunities, including BAI courses, Xinnix Mortgage Academy, and other internal or external programs
  • Represent the bank through involvement in community, business, charitable, civic, and social activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing, across multiple channels and other digital platforms
  • Ability to review, analyze, and comprehend a variety of resources, including financial information
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to proofread and verify written materials
  • Proficiency with technology
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum one year of consumer loan or mortgage loan experience strongly preferred
  • Previous sales experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field preferred
  • Department hours are generally Monday-Friday from 8:00-5:00, but having the flexibility to meet the scheduling needs of your clients and business partners and attend work-related events is crucial for success in this role
  • Customer service experience required with knowledge of banking products and services strongly preferred
