Job description

Junior Personal Assistant / Assistant House Manager
Atherton, California
Overview
A warm, dynamic UHNW family in Atherton is seeking a polished, proactive Junior Personal Assistant / Assistant House Manager to support the family's experienced House Manager in overseeing multiple Bay Area residences. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced nanny, family assistant, or personal assistant looking to grow into a long-term career in estate and household management.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, resourceful, service-oriented, and eager to learn. This individual should enjoy working behind the scenes to ensure the family's homes operate seamlessly while providing occasional support to the principals, children, and household as needed.
This is a hands-on role with tremendous opportunity for professional growth under the mentorship of an established House Manager.
Primary Responsibilities
Household Operations
  • Assist the House Manager with the daily operations of five Bay Area residences.
  • Support the management of the family's primary Atherton estate (approximately 15,000 square feet) as well as additional properties.
  • Help ensure each residence is maintained to the highest standards of presentation and functionality.
  • Coordinate household vendors, maintenance appointments, deliveries, and service providers.
  • Assist with household inventories, supplies, and organization.
  • Help prepare residences for arrivals, departures, guests, and special events.
Personal Assistant Support
  • Assist with errands, shopping, and personal tasks for the principals.
  • Help coordinate schedules, appointments, and household logistics.
  • Support travel planning, packing, and itinerary preparation.
  • Handle administrative projects and miscellaneous requests as assigned.
  • Anticipate needs and proactively assist wherever necessary.
Family Support
  • Be comfortable working in a family-oriented environment with children and dogs.
  • Provide occasional child-related support when appropriate, though this is not a nanny position.
  • Assist with family logistics and help create a smooth, organized household environment.
  • Maintain flexibility to support the family's evolving needs.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is someone who is eager to build a long-term career in private service and enjoys learning from experienced professionals. They should be highly organized, detail-oriented, adaptable, and willing to jump in wherever needed.
Qualifications include:
  • Previous experience as a nanny, family assistant, personal assistant, or household assistant.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with a professional, service-first mindset.
  • Ability to maintain complete discretion and confidentiality.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced household with changing priorities.
  • Child-friendly and dog-friendly.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally with the family.
  • Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and desire for long-term professional growth within estate management.
Schedule
  • Full-time position.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, and travel as needed based on the family's schedule.
Compensation & Benefits
  • $50-$60 per hour, depending on experience.
  • Comprehensive benefits package.
  • Excellent opportunity for mentorship and career advancement into estate and household management.
  • Long-term position with a wonderful family and established household team.
