Job description

Zar Law Firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our growing plaintiff-side litigation practice. This role is focused primarily on first-party insurance litigation, including residential and commercial property damage claims, bad-faith insurance disputes, appraisal-related matters, discovery, depositions, expert coordination, and trial preparation.

We are looking for someone organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing litigation deadlines in a fast-paced trial-law environment.

About the Role

The paralegal will support attorneys in active first-party insurance cases from suit filing through trial, mediation, appraisal, and resolution. The ideal candidate has experience with Texas litigation, discovery, pleadings, case management, and client communication. Experience with property insurance claims is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities:

The Litigation Paralegal will assist with:

  • Drafting and preparing petitions, discovery requests, discovery responses, motions, notices, subpoenas, deposition notices, mediation materials, and trial documents.
  • Managing litigation calendars, deadlines, hearings, depositions, expert deadlines, and court settings.
  • Reviewing and organizing claim files, estimates, photographs, expert reports, carrier correspondence, and production documents.
  • Preparing discovery shells and coordinating document production.
  • Tracking deadlines under the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, scheduling orders, and court notices.
  • Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, court coordinators, experts, adjusters, and vendors.
  • Assisting with appraisal-related issues, expert inspections, depositions, mediations, and trial preparation.
  • Maintaining case files in the firm’s case-management system.
  • Helping attorneys keep cases moving without repeated follow-up.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior litigation paralegal experience required.
  • Texas civil litigation experience strongly preferred.
  • First-party insurance, property damage, personal injury, or plaintiff-side litigation experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with pleadings, discovery, deposition preparation, production review, and trial deadlines.
  • Strong writing, proofreading, calendaring, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines at the same time.
  • Comfortable communicating professionally with clients and opposing counsel.
  • Experience with MyCase, e-filing, Microsoft Office, Adobe, and document-management systems is a plus.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus but not required.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is not just a task-completer. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of assigned cases, anticipates deadlines, follows up without being reminded, communicates clearly, and understands that litigation requires accuracy, urgency, and teamwork.

This position is best suited for someone who is professional, steady under pressure, and comfortable working in a plaintiff-side firm where the work directly affects homeowners, business owners, and policyholders who are fighting insurance companies.
