About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Desktop Support Engineer to provide frontline IT support across our automotive manufacturing facility. This role is critical to keeping plant floor systems, office IT, and production-adjacent technology running with minimal downtime. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in both a traditional office IT environment and a fast-paced manufacturing floor setting, understands the urgency of minimizing production impact, and can troubleshoot a wide range of hardware, software, and network issues.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Level 1/2 support for desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, mobile devices, and other IT equipment.
  • Troubleshoot Windows, Linux, Microsoft 365, email, authentication, VPN, and common business applications.
  • Support plant-floor computers, terminals, barcode scanners, label printers, and other manufacturing technology.
  • Troubleshoot basic wired/wireless network, connectivity, DNS, DHCP, and endpoint issues.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Operations to resolve IT-related issues.
  • Manage user onboarding/offboarding, hardware provisioning, software installation, and IT asset inventory.
  • Monitor and maintain endpoint security, patching, and device compliance in accordance with company standards.
  • Manage support tickets, document resolutions, and escalate complex issues to appropriate IT teams or vendors.
  • Participate in hardware refreshes, system upgrades, plant projects, and technology deployments.
  • Identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to increase IT reliability and user experience.
  • Follow all IT security, plant safety, and operational procedures.
  • Re-image existing employee PCs, as needed, without the loss of data.
  • Create, maintain, and delete Windows Active Directory accounts in accordance with company standards.
  • Follow documented procedures and controls.
  • Must maintain required evidence of compliance and provide SOX Audit support as required.
  • Manage conference room equipment and set Audio Visual Standards for Conference rooms.
  • Work directly with HR to support onboarding and offboarding of IT services for Associates.

Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in desktop, technical, or IT support.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and networking.
  • Experience with Windows, Linux, Microsoft 365, Active Directory/Entra ID, and IT ticketing systems.
  • Basic knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi, and network troubleshooting.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to prioritize issues based on business and production impact.
  • Must be a self-starter with a positive attitude, strong customer service skills, proven problem-solving skills, the ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a dynamic environment, the ability to learn, adapt, and apply new concepts and technologies, and the ability to work a flexible work schedule as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting an automotive or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with plant-floor/operational technology, industrial PCs, barcode systems, or label printing.
  • Experience with Intune, SCCM/MECM, endpoint security, or similar tools.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, or other relevant certifications.
