Job Description

The University of Notre Dame is seeking an IT Support Technician to join the Client Experience team within the Office of Information Technology (OIT). Technology serves as a vital bridge across our campus community, and this role is central to keeping our faculty, staff, and students seamlessly supported. As a key member of the Service Desk, you will provide centralized, high-quality technical support for standard computing devices, software, and desktop applications, serving as a primary point of contact for telephone, digital, and deskside assistance.

In this role, you will combine technical troubleshooting with excellent customer service to resolve computer and telephone issues. You will also support essential operations such as computer imaging, inventory management, and workstation deployment. By resolving technical challenges efficiently, you will directly contribute to operational continuity and advance the university's mission.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Receive and record information regarding each technical problem or request, providing support to identify, diagnose, and resolve basic to complex issues. 

  • Appropriately route issues that cannot be resolved at the Service Desk to other specialized IT support groups within OIT and across campus. 

  • Provide technical support for core functions, including the Imaging Center, the Campus Workstation Program, and Enhanced Technology Partnerships. 

  • Identify user problem trends to assist in developing user documentation, training materials, knowledge base articles, web content, and campus communications. 

  • Design and conduct structured testing of new services, including performing quality checks on related documentation. 

  • Represent the Client Experience team on IT projects and committees to assist with support planning and change management for new and evolving services. 

  • Assist with the training and mentoring of new Service Desk staff, operational partners, contractors, and student employees.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High school diploma or GED. 

  • At least 1 year of professional experience in a relevant technical or customer-facing environment. 

  • Excellent customer service skills and strong verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Excellent knowledge of computers, operating systems, and productivity applications. Understanding of computer networks and telephone services.

  • Ability to work in the United States, now or in the future, without visa sponsorship

Preferred:

  • Prior experience working in a Help Desk, Service Desk, or related IT technical support environment.

  • Demonstrated professional customer service experience. CompTIA certification or other related technical certifications.

We are hiring three total IT Support Technician roles. One position is a full time, permanent position. Two of the positions are full time, two-year limited term roles
