Job Title: Controller Location: Brooklyn, NY (Hybrid – 3 days onsite to start, flexibility possible) Compensation: $150K–$180K base + bonus About the Company We are a growing visual communications and fabrication company specializing in large-format printing, custom displays, and project-based manufacturing for a wide range of clients. With recent acquisitions and continued growth, the company is seeking a hands-on Controller to strengthen accounting, costing, and inventory processes across the organization. Why This Role Exists The company is seeking a seasoned accounting leader to manage balance sheet integrity, lead cost accounting initiatives, and strengthen inventory and WIP controls.

This is a highly visible role that partners closely with senior finance leadership and cross-functional teams, including Purchasing and Billing. Key Responsibilities Own full balance sheet accounting, including accruals, fixed assets, and month-end close Lead inventory accounting, including WIP, lot control, and transition toward standard costing Strengthen costing processes, manage receipt delays, and improve margin visibility Collaborate with Purchasing and Billing to ensure accurate tracking of inventory transfers Manage or eventually lead a team of 2 Senior Accountants (1 balance sheet focus, 1 inventory focus) Interpret and review reports from multiple systems, including legacy ERPs, QuickBooks, and SQL outputs Support audit processes and strengthen internal controls Partner with finance leadership on acquisition integration and job costing improvements Must-Have Skills & Experience Strong inventory and WIP accounting experience in a manufacturing or production environment Deep understanding of cost accounting (lot control and standard costing) Experience with multi-location inventory tracking and transfers Solid balance sheet management and accrual accounting experience Hands-on experience with audit preparation and controls improvement Comfortable navigating multiple systems and interpreting data outputs Ability to lead and develop junior accounting staff (eventually) Tech-savvy with ability to review SQL/PowerBI reports (no coding required) Preferred Background Corporate Controllers or Assistant Controllers in manufacturing/fabrication Public accounting experience with manufacturing-heavy clients Experience with acquisition integration and job costing implementation Team & Collaboration Reports to: SVP of Finance Collaborates with: Purchasing Group, Billing Group, Operations What Makes This Role Interesting Direct impact on operational and financial controls during a growth and acquisition phase Opportunity to standardize costing and inventory processes in a complex, multi-location environment Hands-on, high-visibility role working with leadership across the organization Vaco by Highspring values a diverse workplace and strongly encourages women, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, members of ethnic minorities, foreign-born residents, and veterans to apply.
