As an Items Processing Specialist, you'll play a critical role in ensuring daily financial transactions are processed accurately, securely, and on time. From managing share draft exceptions to processing wires and ATM deposits, you'll help keep our operations running smoothly while protecting our members and maintaining compliance.

What You'll Be Doing

In this role, you'll support daily processing operations by ensuring transactions are accurate, balanced, and completed on time. You'll process share draft files, review and resolve exceptions such as NSF items and stop payments, and research discrepancies as needed.

You'll also handle teller and ATM items, review deposits for accuracy, and identify potential fraud in partnership with the Fraud and Collections teams. Additional responsibilities include processing remote deposits and wires, preparing cash letters, and managing incoming deposits and payments.

You'll monitor processing queues, complete account balancing and adjustments, and help ensure compliance with all regulations. You may also provide backup support for ACH, Card Services, and other operational areas. Throughout your work, you'll focus on accuracy, meeting deadlines, and quickly resolving any issues that arise.

What You Bring to the Table

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1–3 years of banking experience required
  • Previous experience in item processing or proof operations preferred
  • Experience with cash letter processing and ten-key by touch preferred
  • Working knowledge of banking regulations (Reg E, BSA, OFAC, CIP) is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies quickly
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet daily deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
