Job Description
We invite you to join the People & Culture team at Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa as our new Senior People & Culture Manager. In this leadership role, you will help shape a culture defined by authenticity, care, and excellence, partnering with leaders across the resort to attract, develop, and engage exceptional talent. You will support key People & Culture initiatives, foster meaningful colleague experiences, and contribute to an environment where every colleague feels valued, inspired, and empowered to make special happen.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage employee relations, compensation and benefits, recognition programs, health & safety, and colleague wellness initiatives, ensuring alignment with hotel values and operational priorities
  • Partner with leaders across the hotel to support People & Culture initiatives that enhance colleague engagement, retention, and overall workplace experience
  • Provide guidance to leaders on the interpretation and application of HR policies, procedures, and Collective Bargaining Agreements, ensuring fair, consistent, and compliant practices
  • Support leaders in addressing workplace concerns, performance management, and colleague relations matters
  • Support recruitment and talent acquisition efforts by partnering with hiring managers throughout the full recruitment and onboarding process
  • Administer colleague benefits programs and support workplace safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee Leaves of Absence administration, maintaining accuracy and compliance with applicable legislation and company policies
  • Coordinate and facilitate training programs related to compliance, professional development, service excellence, and colleague engagement
  • Plan and execute colleague recognition programs, special events, and People & Culture initiatives that strengthen workplace culture and colleague connection
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging work environment built on communication, trust, respect, and collaboration
  • Support the day-to-day operations of the People & Culture office and provide leadership and guidance to People & Culture team members as required
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation in accordance with company standards and legal requirements
  • Uphold all department policies, procedures, and service standards
  • Follow all health and safety policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Previous Human Resources experience or progressive leadership experience in a hotel, resort, or luxury hospitality environment required
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred, with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships, establish trust, and influence at all levels of the organization
  • Proven ability to manage employee relations matters with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working in a unionized environment and interpreting Collective Bargaining Agreements preferred
  • Solid understanding of Federal, State, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Solutions-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to delivering an exceptional colleague experience
  • Passion for developing people, fostering engagement, and promoting a positive workplace culture
  • University/College degree in Human Resources, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred

Salary Range: $82,000 - $99,000
