Job description

The Senior Manager of IT Project Management leads the planning, execution, and oversight of strategic technology initiatives that advance NAA's digital transformation goals while delivering innovative approaches to how NAA operates and serves its stakeholders. This role establishes and evolves IT project management methodologies to enable consistent delivery, sound governance, and proactive risk management across IT initiatives in support of NAA's mission and vision, grounded in integrity and accountability.
Key responsibilities include managing large-scale, cross-functional projects, and strategic oversight of the IT project portfolio. The Senior Manager of IT Project Management maintains the digital transformation roadmap in NAA's enterprise project management system, including ClickUp and SharePoint, and leads portfolio reviews that align priorities, resources, vendors, and interdependencies. This position also builds communication plans and provides clear, timely updates that strengthen transparency, collaboration, and inclusivity, while driving innovation in how the IT Team plans and delivers high quality project outcomes.
Additionally, this position provides day-to-day leadership to support effective requirements gathering and quality assurance by setting clear expectations, strengthening documentation and review practices, and ensuring consistent quality outcomes. The Senior Manager of IT Project Management is also responsible for managing the Business & Quality Assurance Analyst and providing guidance to other project managers, while partnering closely with developers and vendors to remove obstacles and deliver high quality solutions. This work will be fulfilling for someone who enjoys mentoring teams, improving project delivery practices, and leading change from idea to adoption. Principal Accountabilities
Project Management and Execution
  • Accountable for the successful delivery of IT projects across both business-facing and internal technology portfolios, measured by adherence to scope, schedule, and quality standards.
  • Owns the strategic oversight of the IT project portfolio, including program interdependencies, scope management, risk mitigation, communication strategies, procurement coordination, and resource allocation.
  • Responsible for the oversight and maintenance of the team's enterprise project management suites, ClickUp and SharePoint.
  • Leads regular IT project portfolio reviews and governance forums to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Manages and executes key IT projects, including planning, scheduling, resource coordination, and delivery.
  • Focuses on delivering IT solutions that drive business value, improve operational efficiency, and enhance user experience.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with business and technical stakeholders, serving as the primary point of contact for project-related activities.
  • Integrates organizational change management practices into all IT initiatives to support user adoption and positive outcomes.
  • Manages and mentors internal and external IT project team members, including business analysts, developers, and vendors.

Teamwork and Leadership
  • Partnership with members of IT Leadership team to drive effective portfolio and project management for each of their respective areas.
  • Ensures collaboration with all functional business units within NAA and across IT to achieve strategic, tactical and program/project goals.

  • Provides clear direction and mentoring to internal and external staff.

Communication
  • Ensures stakeholders are effectively informed of program/project information and involved in relevant decision making.
  • Facilitates team meetings effectively.
  • Develops and executes program/project communications plans, as appropriate.
  • Delivers actionable, well-organized presentations appropriate for varying audiences from C-suite to SMEs.
  • Communicate openly and honestly with all stakeholders.

Requirements
  • Excellent skills in Project Management
  • SCRUM or PMP Certified or willing to obtain

  • Proven ability to manage IT Vendors (Salesforce/Nimble and Higher Logic) & contract staff

  • Experience with multiple project methodologies, including Waterfall and Agile
  • Strong Time Management, Organization and Execution Skills

Travel Requirements
NAA is located in Arlington, VA, and local employees will be expected to work in the office 2-3 days per week. Candidates working from remote locations are expected to attend 1-2 events on site each year.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
