Job description

Description

Every successful movement has one thing in common: a strong backbone that consists of people who work behind the scenes, off camera, and out of the limelight. These are the diligent workers without whom success is not truly possible. You may have seen a "Lettuce Lady" on TV or in your hometown, a vegan starter kit in a newsstand on the corner, or one of PETA's many creative and eye-catching demonstrations throughout the years. The inventory clerk is involved with all these things. As a vital member of the PETA Foundation, the inventory clerk will keep a costume-and-prop inventory of more than 1,200 items meticulously organized for PETA's International Grassroots Campaigns Department, making sure that the inventory report is up to date and helping PETA's cadre of campaigners get the costumes and props that they need on the road. Experience in shipping, receiving, and inventory keeping is very important, as your skills in all three areas will be put to the test while you keep the on-site and off-site storage at PETA's Sam Simon Center (the group's headquarters in Norfolk) in good shape. It almost goes without saying that this job will require quite a bit of heavy lifting, so you will need to be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. on a regular basis. If you want to be a part of the backbone of the organization that supports the largest animal rights group in the world, then please apply!
