Employment Type: Paid Internship (Temporary, W2 position with Cogent People Inc.) This is a paid internship opportunity and is not eligible for company-sponsored benefits.


Location: Columbia, MD (Hybrid – Mondays & Wednesdays onsite in Columbia)


Work Authorization Requirements


Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder).

Candidates must be currently authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. Sponsorship, including H-1B sponsorship, is not available for this internship now or in the future.


Clearance Requirement: Public Trust Clearance (or ability to obtain)

Internship Overview


Cogent People Inc. is seeking motivated, curious, and detail-oriented Business & Technology Interns to support internal business, growth, technology, and digital operations initiatives.


This internship program is designed for students or early-career professionals eager to learn about government contracting, healthcare IT services, and the development of technology solutions that support government customers.

Interns will support internal Cogent People initiatives and will not perform work directly for client projects or government contracts.

Interns will assist with a variety of hands-on projects based on their skills, interests, and company priorities. Potential assignments may include creating SharePoint dashboards, developing front-end content, supporting system development activities, updating website content, formatting internal materials, conducting light research, supporting digital communications, and helping improve internal tools and processes.


The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, comfortable learning new systems, and interested in contributing to meaningful work in a mission-driven federal contracting environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team members across business development, operations, delivery, HR, and leadership on assigned tasks
  • Support internal business, technology, and operations projects based on company needs and the intern’s skills and interests
  • Bring curiosity, initiative, and fresh ideas to help improve internal processes, tools, and ways of working
  • Assist with preparing, formatting, and reviewing internal and external materials such as presentations, reports, graphics, and templates
  • Participate in check-ins, ask questions, incorporate feedback, and communicate progress clearly
  • Assist with building, updating, and maintaining SharePoint pages, lists, dashboards, trackers, and related tools
  • Organize and maintain information in spreadsheets, documents, templates, and internal repositories
  • Support website updates, digital content, and basic communications tasks, including formatting, quality checks, and posting support
  • Conduct light research related to government contracting, healthcare IT, public-sector technology, customers, competitors, or industry trends
Requirements:

Qualification

  • Education: High School Graduate or equivalent required
  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college, university, technical program, or relevant training program preferred
  • Proven ability to work independently and effectively with little to no supervision
  • Proven ability to manage time and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Team-oriented mindset with a strong sense of collaboration, ownership, and accountability
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality and accurate work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
