Job Summary:

The Department of Psychology, Sociology, and Social Work at West Texas A&M University (a member of the Texas A&M System) invites applications for a 9-month Instructor-level position in Social Work, preferably beginning in Fall 2026. The successful applicant for this position will serve as the Field Director for the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Program and will oversee field education, including student internships, placement coordination, community partnership development, and support of student success in practicum settings. Responsibilities also include undergraduate teaching, advising, and service responsibilities. The successful applicant must have a Master of Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program. A minimum of two years of post-MSW professional social work experience is required, along with the ability to teach effectively in both face-to-face and online formats. Current social work licensure in Texas is preferred. Current clinical licensure (LCSW) and experience in mental health, behavioral health, healthcare, or related clinical practice settings are strongly preferred. Experience with student supervision, field education, community partnership development, and internship coordination are also preferred.

Work Performed:

The successful candidate will serve as the Field Director for the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Program and will oversee field education, including student internships, placement coordination, community partnership development, and support of student success in practicum settings. Responsibilities also include undergraduate teaching, advising, and service responsibilities.

Necessary Qualifications:

  • Master of Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program
  • Minimum two years of post-MSW professional social work experience
  • Ability to teach effectively in both face-to-face and online formats

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current clinical licensure (LCSW)
  • Current social work licensure in Texas
  • Demonstrated clinical practice experience in mental health, behavioral health, healthcare, or related clinical practice settings
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, or supporting social work students or early-career professionals in applied practice settings
  • Experience developing and sustaining community partnerships and field placement opportunities
