Job description
The New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC) is an umbrella policy and advocacy organization for nearly 200 groups in New York State. We envision a New York state that is stronger because all people are welcome, treated fairly, and given the chance to pursue their dreams. Our mission is to unite immigrants, members, & allies so all New Yorkers can thrive. We represent the collective interests of New York's diverse immigrant communities and organizations and devise solutions to advance them; advocate for laws, policies, and programs that lead to justice and opportunity for all immigrant groups; and build the power of immigrants and the organizations that serve them to ensure their sustainability, to improve people's lives, and to strengthen our state.
The Senior Manager of Immigrant Services Support, Training, will oversee the NYIC's Immigrant Concerns Training Institute (ICTI), managing a robust calendar of trainings on immigration law, immigration legal service provision, immigrant access to and eligibility for needed supports and services, and other topics relevant to New York State's immigrant communities. ICTI works to build the capacity of service providers across the State to meet the needs of the immigrant communities they work with through training and resources. In addition, the Senior Manager serves as a resource to colleagues internally in their efforts to build new and innovative training programs to push forward their policy and advocacy priorities.
Responsibilities:
- Manage Immigrant Concerns Training Institute, which provides extensive training on immigration law and other topics to service providers around the State.
- Conduct trainings on selected topics, and recruit qualified trainers to train on other subjects.
- Lead the development of curricula for trainings, in partnership with relevant subject matter experts. Ensure that training materials and structure are interactive, engaging, and relevant to participants.
- Develop and maintain planning, monitoring and evaluation tools for the program, to track success and areas for improvement.
- Work closely with NYIC Member organizations and staff in other NYIC programs to identify training needs and plan additional trainings.
- Manage contract implementation, ensuring fulfillment of grant deliverables, managing budgets, and reporting on program activities.
- Ensure compliance with all requirements of an Accredited Provider of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) in New York State.
- Lead the NYIC's technical assistance on DOJ Recognition and Accreditation for NYIC Member organizations and other partners.
- Maintain relationships with a range of organizations and people providing services to immigrant communities throughout NY State, in order to conduct outreach to training participants and identify potential trainers.
- Oversee training program logistics and participant experiences
- Supervise Senior Associate for Training, manage performance, guide professional development, and provide key feedback.
Qualifications:
- At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in immigration law and/or policy, either as an attorney, accredited representative, paralegal, or equivalent experience
- Prior experience developing or conducting trainings, or teaching, with an appreciation for adult learning principles.
- Experience supervising staff or interns
- Highly organized, strong interpersonal skills, and comfort with public speaking
- Good team player, comfortable taking initiative, and able to adapt as necessary to changing circumstances
- Passion for immigrant services and social justice
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple tasks
- Familiarity with DOJ recognition and accreditation is a plus
