Job description

Licensed Psychologist - Behavioral Health Provider
ICE Detention Facility- Eloy, ArizonaOverview
We are seeking a Licensed Psychologist to serve as a Behavioral Health Provider at a facility housing individuals detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Eloy, Arizona.
The Psychologist functions as a subject matter expert in mental health and substance use disorders, independently providing diagnostic evaluations, psychotherapy, and behavioral health program support to a complex adult population. This role requires strong clinical judgment, autonomy, and experience treating severe mental illness and co-occurring conditions in a structured healthcare environment.Schedule & Work Hours
  • Full-Time | On-Site
  • Schedule Options:
    • Four (4) 10-hour shifts or
    • Five (5) 8-hour shifts
  • Predictable scheduling with no on-call requirement
Daily Duties
  • Provide direct mental health services, including on-site counseling and individual and group psychotherapy
  • Deliver substance abuse education and behavioral analysis for individuals with mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Conduct specialized programming within a Modified Therapeutic Treatment Community (MTTC) model
  • Perform comprehensive mental health evaluations to support treatment planning for detainees with serious mental illness or mental disorders
  • Refer patients to acute or inpatient psychiatric care as clinically indicated
  • Collaborate with medical providers, contract staff, and healthcare professionals to support continuity of care
  • Provide education and training related to the treatment, monitoring, and management of patients with co-occurring diagnoses.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide brief counseling, psychotherapy, group therapy, behavioral analysis, and substance abuse education
  • Deliver mental health treatment to individuals presenting with:
    • Sexual or physical assault, abuse, or neglect
    • Suicidal ideation, dangerous behaviors, or psychosis
  • Provide post-discharge follow-up care for individuals returning from inpatient psychiatric treatment
  • Develop, manage, and monitor individualized treatment plans in coordination with behavioral health technicians
  • Provide direction and oversight to multidisciplinary teams, behavioral health technicians, and interns
  • Assess and evaluate mental health conditions using DSM-5 diagnostic criteria
  • Complete Mental Health Review Forms (IHSC-883) and identify individuals with significant mental illness
  • Serve as a mental health consultant to healthcare professionals within the facility
  • Coordinate continuity of care with ICE HQ Behavioral Health Unit and ICE Case Management Units
  • Assist case management teams with discharge planning and identification of community healthcare resources
  • Utilize the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system to complete assessments, referrals, and transfer/discharge summaries
  • Participate in performance improvement, risk management, and quality initiatives related to behavioral health care
  • Respond to or coordinate response to medical or psychiatric emergencies as required
Qualifications
Education
  • Doctorate degree in Psychology from an APA-accredited program

Licensure
  • Current, permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice independently as a Psychologist

Experience
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience as an independently licensed Psychologist
  • Demonstrated expertise in assessing, diagnosing, and treating serious mental illness and behavioral health conditions

Certifications
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)

Preferred (Not Required)
  • Experience in a detention, correctional, residential, or secure healthcare setting
