JOB DESCRIPTION

USC Athletics is looking to hire a Director of Game Day Presentation to join our staff and student community of 600+ individuals. This role is responsible for serving as the game day producer and is responsible for the management and implementation of all in-game elements and promotions. The Director of Game Day Presentation is also responsible for fulfilling corporate partner agreements and overseeing game day production staff, including the director, camera and replay operators, matrix board operators, and a team of student interns. This position will also be expected to help oversee/supervise/coordinate student workers and staff member events.

Reporting directly to the Associate Athletic Director for Marketing, the Director of Game Day Presentation will work in collaboration with the department's external team, game day production companies, corporate sponsorship partners, sports programs, and other units within the Athletics department. The ideal candidate will be creative, detail-oriented, have experience writing game scripts, public address announcements, and game day event production, and possess extensive knowledge of control room equipment (including Click Effects, Daktronics V7000 & Show Control). Knowledge of and experience working in higher education preferred. Understanding of the unique culture and needs of college athletes is preferred.

This position serves a large student and staff population, must demonstrate a commitment to improving outcomes for a variety of populations, and is expected to contribute to the program's demonstrated commitment to non-discrimination and equal opportunity for all. This is an exempt position, and some work in the evenings and on weekends is expected.

Roles and responsibilities to include:

  • Serve as the game day producer responsible for the management and implementation of all in-game elements and promotions, fulfill corporate partner agreements, and oversee game day production staff, including the director, camera and replay operators, matrix board operators, and a team of student interns.

  • Head game day producer for Men's & Women's basketball, Men's & Women's volleyball, which includes writing scripts, implementing special events, and lining up halftime entertainment.

  • Manage sponsorship content at Football games.

  • Coordinate with Associate Athletic Director of Marketing on the execution of in-game sponsorship elements via Learfield for assigned sports to create fun and engaging in-game atmospheres for fans and student athletes.

  • Plans, designs and facilitates digital media productions, utilizing creativity and originality, from conceptualization to final product. Collaborates with clients to determine program needs, identify production options and determine overall program content.

  • Writes and edits digital media production-related documents, such as scripts, interview questions, commentary, etc. Researches, identifies and determines subjects for various digital media projects.

  • Create ticket sales campaigns that target various fan demographics.

  • Partner with Associate Athletic Director of Ticket Sales and Director of Community Outreach on theme nights, community outreach events, and group events.

  • Promotes an environment that fosters inclusive relationships and creates unbiased opportunities for contributions through ideas, words, and actions that uphold the principles of the USC Code of Ethics.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree (master's degree preferred) and at least three years of experience. Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education.

  • Thorough knowledge of marketing and business management.

  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, concepts and methodology of marketing.

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience working in higher education and/or a sports related field ideal.

Salary Range

The annual base salary range for this position is $82,000 - $95,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer alignment, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
