Internship Overview: Foothill Credit Union's internship program provides college students with hands-on experience in financial services, with a focus on Business Development. The Intern will gain practical knowledge and skills essential for a career in Business Development, working closely with experienced professionals on key projects and daily operations. Foothill Credit Union's mission is to "improve members' financial health by providing an exceptional member experience." Interns are expected to represent the Credit Union in a professional, helpful, and friendly manner. The Business Development Intern supports the Business Development Department by assisting with outreach efforts, community engagement activities, and internal reporting projects. This position provides a hands-on learning experience in relationship management, financial services marketing, and community partnership development within a credit union environment.


Essential Duties, Training, and Responsibilities: The Business Development Consultant Intern will support the Business Development and Community Relations department, collaborating with the team on key functions and projects. The intern position duties, responsibilities, and requirements represent the basic responsibilities during the internship cycle. However, supervisor(s) may assign additional functions and requirements as deemed appropriate. 


Outreach & Event Support

  • Research local businesses, schools, and community organizations for potential partnerships
  • Assist in maintaining SEG contact lists and outreach calendars
  • Compile community event opportunities and sponsorship prospects
  • Help prepare outreach packets and presentations
  • Assist Business Development Consultants in preparing materials for company partnership visits, presentations, and community events
  • Attend outreach events, chamber functions, and financial education workshops as support staff
  • Support financial literacy workshops and educational content preparation
  • Help set up event tables, promotional materials, and sign-in tracking
  • Observe relationship-building conversations and member engagement strategies
  • Help coordinate logistics for on-site visits and campus/community outreach


Training and Development:

  • Receive formal and informal training through online modules, hands-on practice, and direct mentorship
  • Participate in structured feedback sessions to enhance learning and performance

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a finance, business, management, marketing, or related college program
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
