Associate 3D Technical Designer - Children's Apparel

Job Description

An established Wholesale Manufacturer of branded and licensed children's apparel in NYC is looking to fill a Technical Design position. The Technical Designer is responsible for developing and maintaining a consistent level of quality and fit for Children's Apparel.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work with Design and Production teams to establish and maintain fit and construction standards to ensure brand consistency and quality
  • Create spec packages for each style including correct grade rules and non-standard construction details
  • Accurate measurement and evaluation of development, proto samples for spec, quality & workmanship
  • Prepare and lead fit sessions with Design and Production Depts
  • Communicate measurement, construction and workmanship comments to vendors, including providing detailed explanations, diagrams and/or patterns as needed
  • Work with Production and Compliance Depts to ensure all products meet relevant children's safety requirements
  • Answer questions via email regarding fit, specs, pattern and construction as needed
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience, children swear experience
  • Experience with Browzwear 3D software or similar software.
  • Familiar with measuring sample points of measurement to ensure submitted samples are within tolerance of required specifications
  • Strong knowledge of knit and woven garment construction
  • Knowledge of patternmaking, sewing terminology and garment construction
  • Have understanding of garment manufacturing and product development process
  • Proficient in the use of Excel and MS Word; knowledge of Illustrator a plus
  • Must be willing to work in the office 5 days/week.
