SR. MANAGER, INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS
NRG Energy's internal communications support tens of thousands of employees across NRG's enterprise and Consumer portfolio by delivering the information they need to stay aligned, engaged, and connected to our mission of powering a smarter, cleaner future for our customers and communities.
The Sr. Manager of Internal Communications will implement enterprise-wide communication strategy and partner with executives and business leaders across NRG's Consumer brands and corporate functions. This role is responsible for shaping clear, consistent messaging, producing large-scale communication experiences, and ensuring employees at every level receive timely, relevant information. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, proactive, organized, and skilled at translating complex information into simple, compelling messages that strengthen our culture and support business results.
This position reports to the Director of Internal Communications for NRG Consumer.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead internal communication strategy across the organization, ensuring alignment with company priorities, culture, and leadership expectations.
• Partner closely with executive leaders to develop messaging for strategies, major initiatives, employee experience, and company milestones.
• Produce and manage large-scale communication events, including organizational Town Halls and national digital broadcasts, overseeing scripting, run-of-show, stage direction, and technical execution across platforms such as Microsoft Teams.
• Produce and edit video for internal communications, including scripting, filming, and editing leadership messages, event recaps, and feature stories that bring company priorities to life.
• Develop and publish content for internal channels, including the intranet, video updates, newsletters, communication slides, and email campaigns.
• Serve as the voice of the employee by gathering insights, monitoring sentiment, and sharing recommendations that help leaders strengthen trust and connection.
• Assist in communication efforts during organizational changes, ensuring employees understand the "why," "what's changing," and "what it means for them," applying proven change-management communication practices.
• Stay informed on industry trends, technologies, and enterprise communication best practices, bringing forward recommendations to improve channels, engagement, and storytelling.
• Take initiative, think creatively, and be a positive, steady influence within the communications team and across the organization.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• 5+ years of experience in internal communications within a large or complex organization.
• Proven experience partnering with executive leadership and providing strategic communication guidance.
• Strong planning, project management, and stakeholder management skills.
• Familiarity and comfort with various email software providers, video platforms, and digital signage.
• Experience producing enterprise Town Halls or large-scale digital events for remote audiences.
• Hands-on video production experience, including scripting, filming, and editing content for internal audiences.
• Strong writing, storytelling, and editing skills across formats and channels.
• Ability to tailor and personalize messaging for diverse audiences.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, and other digital communication and design tools.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and consistently meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with leaders at all levels.
• Background in event production, live broadcasts, or large-scale content programming.
