Job description

Reporting to the Director of Integrated Marketing, the Marketing Assistant plays an integral role on the marketing team, supporting initiatives that help tell the story of The Salvation Army throughout Greater New York. This position assists with social media content creation, website updates, project coordination, administrative support, and the development of marketing materials and campaigns.

The Marketing Assistant will support day-to-day marketing operations by helping create digital and print assets, maintain website content, coordinate invoices and project timelines, and assist with campaign execution. The ideal candidate is organized, creative, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills, familiarity with social media platforms and basic marketing tools, and an interest in digital marketing and content creation are essential. This role will collaborate closely with the marketing and fundraising teams, as well as community center leaders across the Greater New York area.

The candidate must live in the greater New York City area and be able to commute into the Headquarters office in Manhattan. Occasional travel within NYC, Long Island, and the Hudson Valley is required. Flexibility to attend occasional events in the evenings is required.


  • Provide administrative support to the Director of Integrated Marketing and the broader marketing team as needed.
  • Assist with the creation, scheduling, and publishing of social media content across platforms.
  • Support the development of digital and print marketing materials.
  • Update website content and assist with basic website maintenance and edits as needed.
  • Complete administrative tasks including invoice processing, project tracking, vendor coordination, and file organization.
  • Help coordinate marketing campaigns and ensure projects remain on schedule and aligned with deadlines.
  • Monitor website and social media analytics and assist with compiling monthly performance reports.
  • Collaborate with staff across multiple locations to identify marketing opportunities, gather content, and support communication needs.
  • Ensure website information, marketing materials, and digital assets remain current, accurate, and aligned with brand standards.
  • Represent The Salvation Army at community events, outreach initiatives, and tabling opportunities.
  • Support marketing events, fundraising initiatives, and organizational campaigns.
  • Engage with community members and speak knowledgeably about The Salvation Army’s programs, services, and mission.
  • Assist with event setup, distribution of materials, and fostering positive community relationships on behalf of the organization.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, graphic design, or related field preferred.
  • 1–2 years of experience in marketing, communications, administrative support, or related work preferred.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools is required.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams.
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrate good time management and prioritization skills, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and driven to achieve success independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong initiative and ability to identify and complete tasks independently.
  • Flexibility, with the understanding that creativity and collaboration are essential when supporting projects that benefit the team and further our mission.
  • Professional and positive manner.
