WHAT YOU GET TO DO

The Manager Software Development is responsible for the operational leadership and execution of software development activities, including project delivery, resource management, budget oversight within scope, and employee development.

This role leads software development teams and Team Leads to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with defined quality standards. . The Manager Software Development partners with departmental leadership to implement strategy, processes, and continuous improvement initiatives while developing technical talent and future leaders within the organization.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and manage software development team members and Team Leads by setting clear expectations, providing coaching, and delivering performance feedback.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, support individual development plans, and identify career advancement opportunities.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and training activities to ensure team capability and continuity.

Resource & Project Execution

  • Assess staffing needs and align resources across projects based on workload, priorities, and budget constraints.
  • Oversee software development project execution to ensure delivery on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Monitor project progress, proactively identify risks, and escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Ensure adherence to development standards, including regular code reviews and documentation.

Budget & Cost Management

  • Manage departmental expenses within the approved budget.
  • Approve employee expenses and operational costs in accordance with company policies.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost optimization.

Coordination, Metrics & Continuous Improvement

  • Coordinate interfaces with Project Management, Commissioning, Quality Management, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to project delivery, quality, and resource utilization.
  • Lead regular department meetings, reviews, and lessons learned sessions.
  • Support Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) initiatives and maintain quality management documentation in alignment with the QM manual.

WHAT YOU HAVE

  • Technical and/or economic training in Software Development or a related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in software development or software project execution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a managerial or team leadership role.
  • Intermediate knowledge of KNAPP products, systems, and internal processes .Intermediate to advanced knowledge of software development methodologies and project execution.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop employees and manage team performance

Working Conditions and Environment:

  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Passport or ability to obtain passport
  • Professional office etiquette is required at all times
  • Travel is expected up to 20% domestic and international.
  • Ability to travel by air both domestically (US) and internationally (primarily to Austria)
  • Physical requirements: sitting for long periods of time, standing, walking, climbing a ladder, speaking, visual acuity, finger dexterity, listening, reaching at arm’s length, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
